General Information:
The Technologist - Production Technology supports the development, implementation and optimization of production technology for production of new and existing Schaeffler products.
Your Responsibilities:
- Validate and implement production technologies.
- Improve production technologies in terms of quality, cost and robustness.
- Validate machines, tools and processes.
- Support/enable production or production departments to realize production (hand-over, training, trouble-shooting).
- Responsible for assuring quality and on-time delivery of prototype PCM’s to customer
- Responsible for building, inspecting, testing and shipping Prototype Electronic Powertrain Control Modules for automotive OEM’s.
- Proactively identifies problems with the build or any step in the prototype process before they occur that could impact quality and or delivery dates.
- Troubleshoots electronic control modules to the component level and provide feedback to engineering. May also be responsible for writing failure analysis reports and contribute to 8D or 5P.
- Material procurement, working with suppliers and writing P.O.’s.
- Support non-customer sample builds to supply design engineering.
- Program unreleased software code versions and modify units as needed for customer Requirements.
- Receive, store and maintain inventory of unqualified material that is sent from R&D and not part of the plants qualified production inventory.
- Get returned customer returns analyzed, report root cause, and develop action.
- Assist production in resolving process-related problems and in determining tooling/equipment requirements to enhance product manufacturability. Communicate build issues to team.
- Suggest design changes to improve and reduce cost to current and future production products.
- Review electrical schematics and drawings of future products and assist in the design for manufacturability.
- Complete all steps necessary to fill customer non-production purchase orders. Create and get signatures for house order, ensure modules are built and meet customer expectation, work with customer service team to ensure on time shipment.
- Development/Execution of processes that are never intended for production
- Final quality check for all shipments to customer, i.e. processing, flashing, label info etc.
- Track all local inventories in Seguin against sample orders and ensure all modules are moving through the process to support required shipments.
- Work closely with MTL to verify correct processes, controls, routing etc. are used for sample builds.
- Communicate with design and customer any issues with prototype process flow from order release to shipment.
- PSC must support Build Readiness meetings and should participate in team meetings
- Creates work instructions, process quality guides, and checklists for prototype processes
Your Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or High school Diploma with demonstrated experience.
- Minimum 5 years electronics manufacturing experience.
- Able to lift 28 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to stand for periods up to 12 hrs.
- Must be able to Push, pull (racks), Reach, Twist, Turn, Stoop, Walk, Stand for 12 hours.
- Have basic knowledge of SAP.
- Have experience of running front and backend processes.
