Pioneer Metal Finishing is looking for a Manufacturing Technician – Tooling & Fixtures to support our production operation by building, repairing, and improving the racks, fixtures, and tooling used to process customer parts.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, and enjoys hands-on problem solving. You do not need to be a tooling engineer or experienced machinist. If you have experience in manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, automotive work, construction, machine operation, or another hands-on mechanical environment, we want to hear from you.

We are willing to train the right person.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Build, modify, repair, and maintain racks, fixtures, and production tooling.
  • Help determine the best way to safely and efficiently hold customer parts during processing.
  • Position parts and design rack layouts to maximize production capacity while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure racks and tooling provide proper electrical contact where required.
  • Build tooling that protects parts from damage, loss of contact, air pockets, and improper drainage.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment.
  • Perform basic machining and fabrication work, including drilling, cutting, grinding, tapping, reaming, and milling as needed.
  • Develop simple tools and fixtures that make work easier, safer, and more efficient for production employees.
  • Inspect existing tooling and make repairs or improvements when needed.
  • Work closely with Production and Quality to solve tooling and racking challenges.
  • Help develop or update basic procedures related to tooling and rack maintenance.
  • Coordinate daily tooling priorities with production leadership.
  • Identify equipment or machine problems and communicate them to the appropriate leader.
  • Keep the tooling work area safe, organized, and ready for production needs.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and other departments.

What We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Are mechanically inclined and comfortable working with tools.
  • Enjoy building, repairing, modifying, or improving things.
  • Can read a tape measure and use basic measuring equipment.
  • Have good attention to detail.
  • Can work independently once trained.
  • Are comfortable solving problems and trying different approaches.
  • Communicate well and enjoy working with different departments.
  • Are dependable and take pride in the quality of your work.

Experience

Previous tooling experience is not required.

Experience in any of the following areas is helpful:

  • Manufacturing
  • Fabrication
  • Maintenance
  • Machine operation
  • Automotive or mechanical repair
  • Welding or metalworking
  • Construction or skilled trades
  • Assembly or production

1–2 years of related hands-on experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.

Physical & Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on manufacturing position. Team members must be able to:

  • Frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work around sharp parts, carts, racks, and production equipment.
  • Work in areas where temperatures and humidity may vary.
  • Work around ovens, machinery, and typical manufacturing noise.
  • Use required personal protective equipment.
  • Safely work around chemicals used in the metal-finishing process.
  • Distinguish between colors when required for the job.
  • Work around production areas where occasional splashing may occur.
  • Follow all safety procedures and workplace requirements.

Why Pioneer Metal Finishing?

At Pioneer, this position is more than simply maintaining racks. You’ll have the opportunity to solve problems, improve processes, work with multiple departments, and see the impact of your ideas on production every day.
