About the role


The Engineering Technician supports engineers in the design, modification, and improvement of products and processes. This includes testing, maintaining, and installing equipment and systems.
This job profile is intended for entry-level support staff who follow specific instructions and procedures, with supervision provided for non-routine situations.

The position is responsible for generating and maintaining manufacturing routers and production orders using engineering drawings, BOMs, technical specifications, and quality requirements. Utilizes knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes to establish the most efficient sequence of operations, supporting productivity, quality, cost-effectiveness, and on-time delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Interpret design drawings and Bill of Material (BOM) technical & quality requirements to develop routings for the manufacturing of parts and assemblies tailored to the machining capabilities of the Sulzer Nuclear Service Center.
  • Generates production work order packages for the manufacturing of pump replacement parts and assembly of new equipment pumps in accordance with facility capabilities, procedures, and Quality Assurance program requirements.
  • Generates service order packages for the disassembly & inspection, and repair of pumps sent to the SNSC for refurbishment.
  • Coordinates with Production Planners and Shop Supervisor to ensure that production and service orders are delivered in time to support shipment of assemblies, parts, and pumps to the customer on-time.
  • Assists in development of inspection plans, procedures, and forms in accordance with company standards.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide LEAN and Environmental Safety & Health (ESH) Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and machine shop processes related to repair of pumps and manufacturing of pump parts is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including diplomacy and negotiation skills.
  • Strong PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft software.
