Manufacturing Support Specialist
Location: 40 Chestnut Avenue, Westmont IL, 60559
Work Hours: 8:00 Am to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $37 to $47 per hour

The Dixon Group is currently seeking a Manufacturing Support Specialist to join our Brass Division in Westmont, IL! This is a unique, hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working across multiple functions to keep operations running smoothly.

This position is designed for a versatile professional who can support production planning, shop floor logistics, and maintenance coordination—helping ensure operational continuity and efficiency across the division.

What You'll Do:

Scheduling Support & Production Planning

  • Assist in coordinating daily and weekly machine scheduling to align with customer delivery commitments
  • Monitor job queue priorities and communicate adjustments to floor supervisors and operators
  • Support capacity planning for Acme Gridley machine cells during peak demand or personnel transitions
  • Interface with materials and purchasing to ensure job readiness prior to setup

Material Handling & Shop Floor Logistics

  • Manage inbound raw material flow and staging for screw machine production
  • Coordinate finished goods movement from production floor to inspection, secondary operations, and shipping
  • Maintain accurate inventory staging and in-process material accountability
  • Support 5S and workplace organization standards across the division

Maintenance Technician Backup

  • Provide first-response maintenance support for Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machines during absences of primary technicians
  • Capable of performing routine preventive maintenance, minor mechanical adjustments, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime
  • Act as an informed liaison between production and maintenance functions when primary maintenance personnel are unavailable
  • Support documentation of maintenance activities and machine history logs

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 8 to 10 years of prior experience in a screw machine or high-volume precision manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of Acme Gridley multi-spindle screw machine operations, maintenance fundamentals, or equivalent mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated experience in production scheduling, shop floor coordination, or materials management
  • Ability to read shop floor documentation, work orders, and job orders
