Job Description

This role is responsible for manufacturing quality execution for assigned projects, products, or manufacturing areas at Changwon Plant. The position covers ASME Code products and related components such as boiler pressure parts, piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, steel structures, and HRSG components. As an individual contributor, the role owns assigned project quality activities including inspection coordination, quality documentation, nonconformance management, root cause investigation, KPI tracking, and shop-floor quality improvement, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product conformity, timely issue resolution, and continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Act as the Manufacturing Quality Engineer for assigned projects, products, or manufacturing areas.
  • Ensure project quality requirements are implemented during manufacturing, inspection, testing, and delivery stages, and coordinate internal, customer, and third-party inspection activities.
  • Review and manage quality records such as inspection reports, Material Test Certificates (MTCs), NDE reports, heat treatment records, pressure test records, and final manufacturing quality documentation packages.
  • Manage assigned quality issues and KPIs, including Nonconformance Report (NCR), Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ), defect trends, inspection findings, and customer-detected quality issues.
  • Perform root cause investigation, structured problem solving, corrective action definition, implementation follow-up, and effectiveness verification for assigned quality issues.
  • Work with the NDE Coordinator to ensure NDE schedule, results, key findings, and follow-up actions are properly connected with assigned project quality issue management.
  • Lead or support shop-floor quality improvement activities for assigned manufacturing areas, including defect prevention, PFMEA/Control Plan follow-up, and process control improvement.
  • Use digital tools to manage quality data, track actions, prepare reports, and improve efficiency in quality documentation and KPI management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in manufacturing quality, quality control, plant quality, project quality management, welding/NDE coordination, or inspection of industrial equipment.
  • Working knowledge of inspection activities, quality documentation, NCR handling, root cause investigation, and corrective action management.
  • Experience or working knowledge related to ASME Code products, pressure parts, piping, pressure vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, or heavy fabrication.
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned project quality tasks and follow actions through closure.
  • Ability to communicate in English for technical documentation, email communication, and customer/supplier interaction.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in power plant, boiler, pressure vessel, piping, heat exchanger, steel fabrication, HRSG, or other heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Working knowledge of ASME, AWS, ISO 9001, ISO 3834, NDE, post weld heat treatment, pressure testing, and customer quality requirements.
  • Experience managing NCR, CoPQ, defect trends, quality KPIs, customer findings, or inspection-related issues.
  • Experience with root cause investigation, 4D/8D problem solving, corrective action management, and effectiveness verification.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plan, or shop-floor quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with digital quality tools, Powermax/QMS systems, Excel-based data analysis, dashboards, Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Interest or experience in using AI-enabled tools to improve routine work efficiency.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work across functions.
