Job Description

An established door manufacturing company is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Manufacturing Shop Manager to oversee daily shop operations, manage production teams, and ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

This individual will be responsible for supervising employees, overseeing machinery operations, maintaining weekly production plans, managing inventory, and ensuring smooth coordination between the shop and office.

The ideal candidate is a confident, results-driven leader with strong manufacturing experience who can make quick decisions, handle last-minute changes, troubleshoot production mistakes, and maintain accountability across the entire team. This position requires someone who is organized, practical, and capable of taking full ownership of shop operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily operations within the door manufacturing shop.
• Lead, supervise, and manage production employees, ensuring strong performance and accountability.
• Ensure employees understand proper machinery operations and manufacturing procedures.
• Develop and maintain weekly production schedules, plans, and priorities.
• Monitor production timelines to ensure orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Handle last-minute changes, urgent requests, and unexpected production challenges.
• Quickly identify manufacturing errors and implement effective corrective solutions.
• Maintain clear communication with clients regarding production updates, delays, and order changes.
• Oversee inventory levels, material availability, and stock organization.
• Coordinate production activities to ensure efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
• Maintain an organized shop and office environment.
• Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for productivity, quality, and deadlines.
• Monitor equipment usage and ensure proper machinery operation and maintenance.
• Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, organization, and overall performance.
• Work closely with office staff to coordinate orders, scheduling, and customer communication.
• Ensure consistent quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.

Qualifications

• Strong manufacturing management experience required.
• Hands-on experience with production machinery and manufacturing operations.
• Door manufacturing, woodworking, or related manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to lead, supervise, and hold production teams accountable.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling, workflow management, and manufacturing timelines.
• Experience managing inventory, materials, and production resources.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing errors and implement solutions quickly.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Comfortable handling last-minute changes and working under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide timely updates to clients.
• Ability to coordinate effectively between production employees and office staff.
• Proactive, hands-on leadership style with a strong sense of ownership.
• Highly dependable, detail-oriented, and focused on results.
