Job Description

At Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, we offer a 12-month Manufacturing Scheduling Placement programme which will tap into your passion and determination to win, giving you a real opportunity to contribute to our on-track success story. In Manufacturing we face the challenge of turning highly IP sensitive, engineering designs into precision components, in a high pressure, fast-paced environment. Managing the resources, people and stakeholders during these challenges is the key to delivering performance and translating that into success.

As a Manufacturing Scheduling Placement student, you’ll see first-hand the breadth of engineering within Formula 1. This role is central to ensuring designs move from concept to finished parts in world-leading timescales. You’ll gain exposure to supply chain management, production control, and reporting - supporting the decisions that keep programmes on track. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring deadlines are met and that the manufacturing team operates efficiently.

  • Production Control & Scheduling – Managing production orders, prioritising workloads, and ensuring alignment between demand and shop floor capacity.
  • Supply Chain Management – Coordinating material availability, monitoring lead times, and managing subcontractor relationships to support business requirements.
  • Reporting & Data Management – Using Excel skills to schedule, track progress, and provide accurate updates to stakeholders, whilst maintaining accurate inventory levels in our ERP system (SAP).
  • Business Integration – Working with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Programme Management, and Procurement to ensure smooth workflow across functions.

What we’re looking for

  • Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a focus on delivery.
  • A personable approach, able to build effective working relationships across teams.
  • Resilience and adaptability to maintain productivity when under pressure.
  • Comfortable with basic Excel skills. SAP experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Interest in production control, scheduling, and supply chain management.
  • You’ll be on track to achieve a 2.1 degree or above in a relevant area of study.

What can we offer you?

We offer the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art Technology Centre, being involved in exciting technological challenges alongside some of Formula 1’s best engineers, with the autonomy to engineer solutions from a clean sheet.

Our benefits package includes:

  • A salary of £30,000 p/a
  • Collective bonus
  • Company lease car scheme
  • 36 days annual leave
  • Access to a generous pension scheme
  • Onsite Gym
  • A variety of other benefits and staff discounts

The application process:

  • Submit your on-line application, CV and covering letter
  • Within this we would like to learn as much about you as possible. Tell us about your hobbies and passions; related and unrelated to the scheme or degree you are studying as this will help you stand out against candidates that may have the same qualifications and grades as you.
  • Please remember to list the grades you have achieved against the respective qualifications, employment and project experience.
  • As part of our Diversity and Inclusion policy please do not put a photo of yourself on your CV.
  • Your application will be screened by HR and the hiring manager
  • If successful you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre onsite at our factory in March 2027
  • If successful, your scheme will start in August/September 2027

We recognise that the ideal candidate for this role may not meet every requirement in this advert and understand that some applicants are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification.
