Production Supervisor
Are you a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? We are seeking a Production Supervisor to lead shift operations, drive safety and quality performance, and develop high-performing teams. This role is responsible for ensuring production goals are achieved efficiently while maintaining a strong commitment to employee safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direct leadership and supervision to production employees, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through regular feedback, training, and performance discussions.
- Promote employee engagement while addressing performance concerns and recognizing accomplishments.
- Ensure staffing levels and skill sets meet operational requirements.
Production & Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and coordinate shift operations to meet production schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.
- Analyze production schedules and work orders to determine labor and equipment needs.
- Assign personnel and equipment to maximize productivity and ensure efficient material flow.
- Monitor production performance, identify obstacles, and implement solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and labor records.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety observations, investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
- Participate actively in safety initiatives, training programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure employees have the tools, equipment, and training necessary to perform their work safely.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Interpret product specifications and communicate customer requirements to production teams.
- Coordinate quality inspections and ensure adherence to established production standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, cost savings, and increased productivity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment performance, product quality, and operational processes.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Operations, and other departments to ensure production objectives are met.
- Communicate operational priorities, performance expectations, and production updates effectively across shifts and departments.
- Assist in resolving production, personnel, and equipment-related issues in a timely manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for supervising exempt and/or non-exempt employees. Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees.
- Assigning and directing work.
- Conducting performance evaluations and development discussions.
- Coaching employees and administering corrective action when necessary.
- Approving time off and managing attendance.
- Supporting employee training and career development initiatives.
- Building and maintaining a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing production demands.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations, quality systems, and production processes.
- Proficiency with production reporting systems and Microsoft Office applications.
