This role focuses on software‑oriented troubleshooting and problem-solvingonPAS5500 / RH / YS systems—includingstages, handlers , Illuminationandall othermoduleand systemlevels
Unlike traditional software development roles, this position centers on Linux-based control systems, C# / C++ control logic analysis, executionsequence, algorithm, motion behavior diagnostics, signal tracing, and system-level issue resolution
As a 3rd-line Production Engineer, you will proactivelyidentifyissues, define clear technical problem statements, and collaborate closely with D&E to drive structural fixes.
Your daily work involves analyzing control logic behavior, IO interface anomalies, memory/communication issues, error tables, signal inconsistencies, and automation sequence problems to ensure stable factory operations and prevent repeat occurrences.
This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on system debugging, motion/control problem analysis, and cross-functional technical collaboration, rather than full-time coding.
Software & Control Troubleshooting
Diagnose and analyze issues within Linux-based control systems, including C# / C++ control logic, automation sequences, and motion behavior.
Perform signal tracing, log analysis, power/signal path checks, and interpret position/velocity/acceleration curves from motion control loops.
Identify root causes across software behavior, IO timing, memory patterns, PCB interactions, electrical noise, or mechanical coupling.
3rd-Line Technical Problem Solving
Proactively identify production issues and define structured problem statements for D&E.
Support escalations and collaborate with D&E on MDEV / MTD investigations, engineering changes, and structural solutions.
Provide expert-level deep dives when 1st/2nd-line support has exhausted troubleshooting paths.
Production Support & Structural Fixes
Ensure stable factory execution for PAS5500 / RH / YS mechatronics modules.
Analyze error tables, software logs, automation sequences, and motion profiles to prevent repeat failures.
Drive data collection, experiment setup, validation of hypotheses, and structural improvement implementation.
Documentation & Diagnostic Improvements
Maintain, update, and optimize procedures, diagnostic methods, work instructions, and software/motion debugging guides.
Identify process gaps related to diagnostics or control behavior and create new procedures or sequences where needed.
Lead improvement projects and deliver measurable impact on factory stability and troubleshooting efficiency.
Education
Bachelor’s orMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related technical fields.
Technical Skills
Experience with Linux-based control systems.
Proficiency in C# and/or C++, especially for understanding and analyzing system control logic (not application-level coding).
Familiarity with: Motion control fundamentals (position/velocity/acceleration loops) /Automation control theory /IO interfaces, communication protocols, and memory behaviors / PCB basics, schematic reading, and signal/power tracing
Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills for root cause analysis.
Problem-Solving
Experience with system-level debugging, control logic analysis, or automation/machine troubleshooting.
Ability to translate ambiguous system symptoms into clear, structured technical problems.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Ability to work closely with D&E, presenting technical findings and participating in deep-dive engineering discussions.
Capable of delivering technical presentations during interviews (topic assigned by hiring manager).
Experience with semiconductor equipment, precision motion systems, automation machinery, robotics, metrology, or stage control systems.
Familiarity with real-time control, EtherCAT, PLC interactions, embedded Linux, or automation controllers.
Hands-on experience with sensor/actuator integration or motion tuning.
Exposure to ECN, MDEV/MTD methods, or structured root cause analysis processes.
Ability to design controlled experiments and interpret complex logs to support structural fixes.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.

Who are we?
ASML is an innovation leader in the global semiconductor industry. We make machines that chipmakers use to mass produce microchips. Founded in 1984 in the Netherlands with just a handful of employees, we’ve now grown to over 40,000 employees, 143 nationalities and more than 60 locations around the world.
What do we do?
We provide chipmakers with hardware, software and services to mass produce patterns on silicon through lithography. Our lithography systems use ultraviolet light to create billions of tiny structures on silicon that together make up a microchip. We push our technology to new limits to enable our customers to create smaller, faster and more powerful chips.
Who are our people?
While you may think that only engineers and mathematicians work at ASML, you'll be surprised to find out that our people come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Across ASML, we have dedicated teams that manage customer support, communications and media, IT, software development and more. Every team in the company is essential for pushing our technology and the industry forward.
If you love to tackle challenges and innovate in a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment with all the flexibility and freedom to unleash your full potential, ASML is the place to be.
