Job Description

Maintenance Technician

Join Life Fitness / Hammer Strength as a Maintenance Technician and play a critical role in keeping our manufacturing equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently. In this hands-on role, you'll perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of production equipment while supporting a safe, productive manufacturing environment.

Location: Owatonna

Shift: Day Shift 4 Day

This full-time position is eligible for overtime. Shift differential, production bonus opportunities, and additional compensation programs may apply based on shift and location.

We're looking for a self-motivated maintenance professional who can work independently, communicate effectively with production teams, and contribute to a collaborative manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate enjoys diagnosing problems, finding solutions, and helping keep operations running at peak performance.

As our Maintenance Technician, you will:

  • Perform a wide variety of maintenance duties involving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Complete maintenance service requests for production and facility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex machinery and equipment issues.
  • Disassemble equipment and repair or replace defective components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Communicate equipment concerns and safety issues to supervisors.
  • Support a safe work environment by following established maintenance procedures.
  • Assist with facility maintenance projects as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for in our Maintenance Technician:

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience performing maintenance and repair of production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of facility maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical college degree in a maintenance-related field or a trade license.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance background.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment including pressure gauges, voltmeters, and ammeters.
  • Experience maintaining:
  • Press brakes
  • Laser cutters
  • Turret punch presses
  • CNC machining centers
  • Powder coating equipment
  • Experience with Trumpf machinery.
  • Experience working with Motoman robots.

Your base wage will be between $27.00 - $33.00 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined.
