Corning Incorporated is a world leader in materials science, combining expertise in glass, ceramics, and optical physics to create life changing technologies. From the glass on your smartphone to the fiber connecting the internet and innovations advancing life sciences and environmental sustainability. Corning products touch nearly every aspect of modern life. With over 175 years of innovation and manufacturing excellence, Corning continues to invest in the people and technologies that shape tomorrow.

Role Purpose

As a Senior IT Engineer Manufacturing Systems & Infrastructure, you will serve as the technology cornerstone of our Reynosa manufacturing facility, ensuring the reliability, security, and continuous evolution of the IT systems that power production. You will take ownership of both infrastructure (servers, networks, firewalls) and application development, bridging the gap between IT and the manufacturing floor to maximize operational uptime and efficiency. Working closely with production, engineering, and global IT teams, you will identify and implement innovations that reduce costs, enhance manufacturing execution, and elevate the plant's digital capabilities, directly impacting how we deliver quality products to customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and continuously improve the plant's IT infrastructure including Windows Server environments, LAN/VLAN architecture, and firewall policies, ensuring secure, scalable, and high availability systems that support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
  • Lead the enhancement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) by identifying performance gaps, implementing targeted improvements, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to maximize Total Available Uptime (TAU) and operational efficiency.
  • Design, develop, and deploy custom applications and automation tools using modern platforms (Python, .NET/C#, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, or Microsoft Power Apps) that streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and integrate seamlessly with manufacturing systems.
  • Champion IT driven cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining rigorous documentation, cybersecurity compliance, and alignment with both global IT standards and local regulatory requirements.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of IT experience supporting manufacturing or industrial operations environments, with a clear track record of solving production impact issues.
  • Solid, hands-on expertise in Microsoft Windows Server administration configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience with LAN/VLAN network setup and firewall configuration and management in an industrial or enterprise environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or development platform: Python, .NET/C#, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, or Microsoft Power Apps with demonstrated application to real business or operational problems.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken, required for cross-functional collaboration with global IT and business teams.
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive total compensation and benefits package above legal requirements.

  • Real career growth opportunities within a global technology leader operating across 5 continents and 130+ manufacturing locations.

  • Access to continuous learning, professional development, and technical training programs.

  • Collaborative and inclusive culture where diverse perspectives drive innovation.

  • The opportunity to do impactful work every day — supporting manufacturing operations that deliver products changing people's lives globally.
