Manufacturing Future Workforce - Senior Manager

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Manufacturing Future Workforce - Senior Manager to join the team in Renton, WA. The role will also require moderate travel to academic partners and other Boeing sites both in and out of state.

As Manager for Future Workforce, you will drive the continued development and execution of a comprehensive BCA Future Workforce manufacturing talent pipeline strategy across Washington, South Carolina, Montana and Kansas. You will support a team of employees in a fast-paced, high impact and ever-changing environment. This includes, but is not limited to partnerships with academic institutions, industry employers, workforce development organizations, third-party liaison organizations, levers for course alignment to internal job requirements, and pipeline specific hiring pathways. In this role, you will be critical in providing daily direction, integrating plans and making strategic recommendations based on Human Resources and manufacturing business priorities and environment. Effective relationship building, business acumen and professional communication skills are essential to develop effective, lasting and collaborative relationships with employees, managers, leaders, peers, partners, external stakeholders and direct reports.

A successful candidate will operate through ambiguity, adapt quickly to changing environments.

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage, lead, coach, develop, and inspire employees
• Collaborate and foster relationships with customers, stakeholders and direct reports
• Understand, leverage and operate within the large-scale workforce development ecosystem, both internally and externally, driving to clear Return on Investment (ROI), metrics and expected outcomes
• Drive the continued development and execution at scale of a comprehensive Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Future Workforce manufacturing talent pipeline strategy across Washington, South Carolina, Montana and Kansas by partnering with academic institutions, industry employers, workforce development organizations and third-party liaison organizations
• Partner with site leadership teams and local skill teams to understand critical manufacturing job roles and have clear line of sight of staffing requirements to meet business goals
• Align resources and manage budgets to ensure delivery of requirements efficiently and cost effectively
• Collaborate with functional peers across BCA and Enterprise to share and adopt, when appropriate, best practices
• Drive continuous improvement activities, integrating and partnering with internal functions, such as Operations, Human Resources, Global Talent Acquisitions, Boeing Global Engagement, State and Local Government Operations, Communications, IAM/Joint Programs, Employee Engagement, Labor Relations, etc.
• Be the expert for manufacturing talent pipelines, including coordinating with external entities around multi-faceted awareness campaigns for manufacturing career paths, internship development and deployment, as well as coordinating with legislative policy
• Represent Boeing through public speaking in both academic and government forums
• Interface to Communities of Excellence (COEs) while enabling priority application pathways and alignment to graduation dates across BCA Manufacturing
• Develop and execute integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
• Acquire resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
• Lead complex operations and cross-functional teams
• Influence teams to exhibit Boeing Values and Behaviors

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• 5+ years of experience leading teams either formally or informally in an a HR role
• 5+ years of experience leading or managing projects that involved cross-functional or cross-business unit teams
• 5+ years of experience creating and developing strategy plans and/or executing strategies and managing projects
• 5+ years of experience in a role which required strong interpersonal and communication skills
• 5+ years of experience in influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leaders across functions and/or programs
• 5+ years of experience partnering with leadership to design and implement workforce strategies to meet organization objectives

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
• 5+ years of experience communicating and implementing HR programs, policies, practices and processes
• 5+ years of experience in workforce development or a related field at scale
• 3+ years of experience in leading change management and process improvement activities at a business unit or enterprise level
• Prior experience in or around trades and/or manufacturing hands-on skill building
• Comfortable speaking at public events in both government and academic forums
• Experience interacting with students (ex: high school and college age)
• Understanding of effective teamwork dynamics in order to attain higher levels of performance
• Experience in building and maintaining relationships and partnerships (ex: cross functional, cross organizational, public private partnerships, stakeholder, customer, etc.)
• Systems level thinking with the capability to implement change quickly and effectively across organizations
• Embraces speed and agility to drive innovation and results, while maintaining consistent standards and balance
• Experience leading through influence
• Capability to work in matrix style organization
• Capability to hold people accountable

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $148,750– $201,250
