Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Field Specialist role within the Univation Technologies Team in Seadrift, TX, please see additional locations in posting
The purpose of this role is to develop manufacturing operating procedures/training and facilitate plant start-ups/commissioning. Licensee Plant Commissioning and Start-up assignment will involve a 4-6 months International Relocation.
Responsibilities –
Update typical manufacturing operating procedures as needed within UT, i.e., as required by new technology or design developments.
Prepare the manufacturing portion of the process orientation training for new build or retrofit clients, i.e., bimodal catalyst retrofits.
Prepare process training for new and existing clients as needed by the Regional Customer Team Manufacturing Leader (ML).
Travel in support of New Build client needs (design and construction reviews, on site start-up and post start-up support) around the world.
Travel in support of Retrofit client needs (Site Survey’s, Kick-Off meetings, construction reviews, on site start-up and post start-up support) around the world.
Stay current in the technology of Unipol and learn new developments to the Unipol Technology.
Prepare for and participate in Technology & Business Review meetings with current Licensees.
Support ML in providing Manufacturing expertise to Licensees in response to operating inquiries.
Train others (client and bidding contractors) in Unipol Technology.
Support special runs for product/catalyst development, data gathering and training of self or others, sometimes at home site or possible travel to other sites.
Review Process Design Packages (PDP) and know the typical content, as needed by ML.
Participate in Client’s P&ID reviews, Lay-out/3D model reviews as requested by ML.
Participate on start-up teams at licensee’s site for a period of 6 - 9 months, including preparation of punch list and commissioning activities.
Qualifications –
A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
5 or more years of relevant experience.
Expertise in at least one of the major areas of the Unipol process (feed purification, reaction and purging, vent recovery and utilities, additive addition, and pelleting). The manufacturing specialist must be able to take a lead role in one of these areas on a start-up assignment. All around Unipol and associated equipment experience desired.
Some travel is expected based on business needs, 50% of time.
A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the country for which you are applying. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications –
Knowledge of Gas Phase Polyethylene Technology.
Experience in preparation of a punch list and bringing the items to closure.
Experience in commissioning activities and logic checks.
Understanding of the Univation Process Design Package (PDP) layout and content is a positive.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations-
Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
Climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.
Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
Stand or walk for extended periods of time
Your Skills:
Ability to read and understand piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
Ability to identify safety issues and bring solutions.
Ability to apply current knowledge to assist in a safe and successful start up.
Ability to work with others even with communication barriers such as language is required.
Proficient computer skill using Microsoft office tools.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Additional notes–
This position does not offer relocation assistance.
Start-up assignments last for approximately 3 or 6 months. Time will be well spent reviewing the PDP and assisting the Chief Commissioning Specialist as needs arise prior to departure.
The positions are “service provider to UT” positions, expected to be 100% for 2-3 years. Company relocation is not offered for these assignments.
