Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer II, Engineering

The Manufacturing Engineer II provides technical expertise and leadership in
manufacturing and inspection. This role focusing on lathe programming, tooling, fixturing, and setup/process sheets along with improvement projects.
This is an onsite position located in Milwaukee, WI.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing organization.
  • Analyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts. Creates and maintains programs which includes selecting fixturing and cutting tools, and machine speeds and feeds; and creates process sheets and tooling lists for Boring Bar and Horizontal Machining Centers.
  • Is a resource for capital projects. May prepare appropriation requests for capital projects
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and carries out improvement actions.
  • Develops new and improved manufacturing methods (DFMA).
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce cost, improve productivity, safety, quality, velocity, OTD, etc.

Qualifications/Requirements

The primary tasks necessary to complete / impact the associated Major Responsibilities. How the majority of your time is spent. Most jobs will require from 6 to 15 tasks. Include both those tasks which are performed on a frequent, almost daily basis; Describe the approximate percentage of time spent on these tasks on average. Example: “Negotiate parts, prices and delivery schedules with vendors.” Also those which may be performed less frequently but are still an important part of the job; Example: “Prepare annual department budget for incorporation into the Company’s Formal Profit Plan.”

  • Participate and be pro-active in Operations safety program.
  • Works with Technical Services for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency.
  • Works closely with the engineering team and other manufacturing departments.
  • Program lathes using CAMWorks software and SolidWorks. Establish machine speeds and feed rates and configuration of cuts using vendor software unique to each machine tool (and variety of Machine Controls, i.e., Fanuc, Siemens, etc.).
  • Responsible for the development of equipment, fixtures, tooling, etc. to aid in the manufacturing process.
  • Provides technical support to analyze status of equipment and need for replacement equipment.

Write CEAs, evaluates vendor proposals, makes recommendations, perform acceptance tests and manage new machine tool requisitions.

  • Ability to work on more than one project at a time.
  • Requisition tools.
  • Assist with routing operation sequence, PFMEA’s and cost estimates.
  • Develop, maintain, and document setup sheets.
  • Participate in the development of production methods, sequence of operations, and procedures for the most cost-effective method to produce our components without compromising quality.
  • Work closely with hourly Operators and instruct in routed production methods and procedures.
  • Read and interpret product design drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
