Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Commercial Sewing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to help improve manufacturing operations, support production teams, and drive continuous improvement throughout our facility. This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys solving problems, optimizing workflows, and working directly with operators and leadership to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity.

What You'll Do

Production & Process Improvement

  • Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, and production data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow evaluations, and labor utilization assessments.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements that increase productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Production Support

  • Work directly with production teams to troubleshoot process issues and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Monitor production performance and assist with corrective actions when needed.
  • Help improve safety, quality, throughput, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Support manufacturing readiness for new products and production changes.

Documentation & Data Analysis

  • Develop, update, and maintain work instructions, process documentation, and visual aids.
  • Collect, analyze, and report production metrics and performance data.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Assist with standardizing processes and improving consistency across departments.

Manufacturing Systems & Collaboration

  • Support workstation, tooling, fixture, and layout improvements.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Assist with projects focused on reducing waste, improving workflow, and increasing capacity.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate Degree, Technical Degree, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing, production support, process improvement, or engineering technician roles.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience conducting time studies and workflow analysis.
  • Understanding of manufacturing metrics and performance measurement.
  • CAD experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with high-mix, configurable, or custom manufacturing environments.
  • Experience implementing process improvements on the production floor.
