Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Position: Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead

The Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for leading manufacturing engineering initiatives, technology transfer projects, capital equipment procurement, process optimization, and continuous improvement programs. The role will drive manufacturing excellence through capacity enhancement, operational efficiency, quality improvement, and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering & Operations Excellence

  • Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to improve productivity, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives across production operations.
  • Establish and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, throughput, and product quality.
  • Conduct line balancing, capacity planning, and resource optimization studies.
  • Define and maintain standard work, standard hours, and manufacturing best practices.

Technology Transfer & New Product Introduction

  • Manage end-to-end technology transfer from global manufacturing locations to local facilities.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Value Package Introduction (VPI), and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure seamless integration of manufacturing systems, processes, and supply chain requirements during transfers.

Capital Equipment Procurement & Project Management

  • Identify manufacturing equipment requirements based on capacity and business demand.
  • Manage end-to-end capital equipment procurement from RFQ preparation to commissioning
  • Conduct technical evaluations and techno-commercial discussions with suppliers.
  • Lead procurement, installation, commissioning, validation, and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
  • Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets and monitor project cash flow.
  • Ensure process capability validation through Process Capability (CP), Process Capability Performance (CPK), Process Performance (PP), Process Performance Capability (PPK), and Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (Gauge R&R) studies

Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

  • Lead Value Improvement Projects (VIPs) to drive cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct Make-or-Buy analysis and support sourcing decisions.
  • Improve manufacturing yields, reduce defects, eliminate process escapes, and enhance Right First Time (RFT) performance.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, Industry 4.0 implementation, and smart manufacturing technologies.

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Collaborate with suppliers during equipment development and procurement.
  • Conduct technical reviews and support supplier selection processes.
  • Ensure supplier compliance with quality, safety, and performance requirements.

Industrial Engineering & Capacity Planning

  • Analyze production demand versus available capacity.
  • Develop manufacturing plans to support business growth and scalability.
  • Establish manpower planning and utilization strategies.
  • Implement productivity improvement initiatives through time studies and process optimization.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Develop technical capabilities and succession planning within the team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, EHS, and Global Engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree preferred.

Experience

  • 12–20 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Continuous Improvement, or Operations Excellence.
  • Proven experience in NPI, VPI, TOT/TOW projects, equipment procurement, and manufacturing process development.
  • Experience in assembly and machining environments preferred.
