Where is the work:

On-Site (5 days)

The Manufacturing Engineering Run Test Technician for Plant 4 is responsible for ongoing support of Testers in the Grand Rapids facility. Including the following activities. This candidate must have the technical expertise to develop and lead tester design projects, supervise product validation testing, drive to root cause for quality and reliability issues, interpret technical agency standards, and conduct projects in accordance with standard engineering practices. Success in this role will be achieved by developing strong working relationships with the plant personnel and internal engineering organizations.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with plants to ensure that tester and product issues are identified, prioritized, and resolved through coordination with the System, Software, IT, and Plant teams.
  • Assist in managing chiller movement from production line to test facility
  • Electro-mechanical setup for chiller testing
  • Assist in data acquisition setup and troubleshooting for chiller systems
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities to support customers, including process and technical enhancements.
  • Support basic problem solving for FPY improvements
  • TPM for generator power bank
  • Inspection of pumps, motors, blowers, and VFD’s for test facility
  • Develop knowledge of key HVAC systems and components that need to be tested, including Trane controls, electro-mechanical power components, electrical wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, contactors, overloads, variable frequency drives, solid-state starters, wye-delta starters, compressors, evaporators, condensers, indoor fans, outdoor fans, gas heat, electric heat, and proprietary components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for any Test-related issues with the Production team.
  • Resolve Customer Witness Tester-related issues with current testers.
  • Escalate issues to team leadership.
  • Identify plant issues and drive/support resolution with Test Engineers.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to tester-related processes.
  • Support Test Engineers for product changes.
  • Coordinate with Tester Engineering on schematics, system diagrams, and test sequence changes.
  • Provide support beyond normal working hours as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in HVAC, Electrical or a 2-year equivalent degree program at an accredited school preferred. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong interest in HVAC applications and operating conditions for refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong interest in Manufacturing Plant Systems and Processes in support of testing capabilities.
  • Competency in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Competency in Test Systems and SCADA applications.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

$28.80 - $34.04
