Job Description

Why Join Giga

  • The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
  • The Impact Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
  • The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
  • The Moment AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.

What you'll do

As the Manufacturing Engineer, Switchboards, you will own production process control, shop floor efficiency, and facility reliability for switchboard and control panel assembly operations. The position bridges production, engineering, quality, and facilities to ensure on-time delivery, cost control, and consistent product quality across UL891 switchboards, UL67 panel boards, and various control wiring projects. Emphasis is placed on practical execution, on time delivery, continuous improvement, and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Where you'll work

You will be based in our Long Beach, CA facility.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices for all assembly and wiring processes and compliance with applicable safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEEE, etc.)
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve all production routings for switchboard and panelbaords, ensuring alignment with actual shop floor practices and labor efficiency
  • Establish and enforce standardized work at the direct labor level to drive consistency, reduce variability, wiring, and final assembly
  • Design and implement fixtures, jigs, and tooling improvements to reduce cycle time, improve safety, and lower operational cost in panel and switchboard assembly
  • Lead root cause investigations with Quality control and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring production defects, including wiring errors, torque failures, and fit/finish issues
  • Support materials management, production control, and inventory control activities as needed, including cycle counting, part flow organization, and visual management systems for components (breakers, bus bar, connectors, enclosures, etc.)
  • Work directly with Engineering to resolve production issues in real time and remove constraints impacting on-time delivery (OTD)
  • Support UL891 and UL67 production compliance requirements, ensuring assemblies are built in accordance with listed procedures, UL follow-up service requirements, and applicable NEC/NFPA standards
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, material flow, and facility operations

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, production operations, or industrial environments (switchgear, switchboard, or electrical panel experience strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience improving shop floor processes, labor efficiency, or production output in an electrical equipment assembly environment
  • Proven cost savings results based on project and process improvements
  • Proven ability to create or refine routings, work instructions, or process documentation based on real production conditions
  • Experience leading or supporting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Familiarity with fixtures, jigs, or practical tooling improvements relevant to panel and switchboard fabrication
  • Working knowledge of equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance programs, or facility operations
  • Strong cross-functional coordination with production, quality, and engineering teams
  • Comfortable operating in a hands-on role that blends engineering thinking with shop floor execution. Must be mechanically inclined.

Bonus points

  • Experience with UL891 switchboard, control panels, and UL67 panelboard manufacturing processes (bus bar fabrication, power wiring, control wiring, hi-pot/dielectric testing, final QC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with UL listing and labeling requirements, follow-up service inspection procedures, and maintaining production compliance within a UL-certified facility
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics365, Odoo)
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and visual management systems; Green Belt or Black Belt as a plus
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E as they relate to switchboard and panel construction

Benefits

  • Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Parental leave
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • Commuter benefits

Who We Hire

We don't use "A-player" loosely. Here's what it actually means at Giga:

Antifragile. You don't just survive chaos, you get better because of it. When things break, change, or move sideways, you don't freeze. You adapt faster than the problem evolves.

High Agency. You don't wait to be told what to do. You see the gap, you fill it. If something is blocking progress, you find a way around it, over it, or through it without asking for permission.

Executors. Ideas are cheap. We hire people who ship. You're the person who turns a whiteboard sketch into something real while everyone else is still scheduling the next meeting about it.

Bias to Action. Perfect is the enemy of done. You'd rather make a decision with 80% of the information and course correct than sit around waiting for 100% that never comes.

Speed. We move fast because the opportunity demands it. You're not reckless, but you understand that in this industry, the team that moves fastest wins. And you like winning.
