Job Description

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to pioneer groundbreaking processes and high-volume automation systems for Tesla’s Rotor Manufacturing division. This role involves designing and deploying next-generation production lines that push the boundaries of physics, cycle times, and automation capabilities to scale Tesla’s most ambitious projects.

You’ll work at the intersection of innovation and execution, collaborating with Tesla’s cross-functional teams across Product Design, Factory Operations, Global Supply Management, and internal or third-party equipment vendors to develop world-class machines and processes. You will assume full ownership of the equipment design, development, and optimization, ensuring it meets Tesla’s rigorous standards for safety, quality, and scalability while aggressively driving down manufacturing costs through cutting-edge automation.

This position demands relentless curiosity, a passion for solving “impossible” challenges, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment where you’ll leave a legacy of transformational engineering.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new highly automated manufacturing lines from concept to production
  • Engineer novel manufacturing processes for production, focusing on precision, speed, and cost efficiency at scale
  • Aggressively reduce costs by designing solutions that minimize material waste, energy consumption, and labor content
  • Lead validation of production processes and automated inspection tools
  • Own end-to-end project execution, from concept development and supplier coordination to installation, ramp, and continuous process improvement

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong hands-on experience with high-volume and pilot manufacturing
  • Proven track record of data driven methodology to solve complex problems
  • Mastery of 3D and 2D CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent)
  • Manufacturing process development, specification and evaluation experience
  • Experience directing complex engineering project efforts
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
