Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Production

Location: Sheffield, Hybrid - 3 days per week on site between Mon-Thurs

Travel: Once a month travel to Barrow-in-Furness depending on business needs

Salary: £48,663+ (DOE)

You will support the translation of engineering design intent into clear manufacturing data packs and instructions for operational use. You will contribute to safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing processes while supporting continuous improvement, estimating activities, and make/buy strategies. Working across teams, you will help ensure manufacturing solutions align with project requirements and deliver proficient performance outcomes.

Core duties:

  • Translate engineering designs into Manufacturing Data Packs (MDPs) and Manufacturing Instructions (MIs) for operational use
  • Support Quality and SHE processes, ensuring safe working methods are defined and followed, including contractor oversight
  • Contribute to estimating activities and make/buy strategies to support effective project delivery
  • Work collaboratively across teams to support project requirements and contribute to business case development and performance improvement
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and support training and risk assessment activities within Manufacturing Engineering

Essential Skills:

  • Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally supported by a relevant HNC/Foundation degree (or working towards one)
  • Demonstrable experience creating, managing, and improving processes, with an understanding of Lean techniques or continuous improvement practices
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, with an understanding of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) requirements and awareness of potential hazards
  • Experience using root cause analysis tools to solve problems and improve performance outcomes
  • Comfortable using systems and tools such as SAP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Visio, TeamCenter and SharePoint; experience with web content or design is beneficial
