Purem Novi, Inc. seeks Manufacturing Engineer in Brighton MI to analyze and interpret concepts and needs of programming team to create from scratch engineering tooling, fixture, and gage designs based on concepts from meetings with program manufacturing engineers, production and quoting. Develop and design advanced engineering fixture, tool and/or gage concepts that improve upon current standard fixture design. Meet with engineers to coordinate products and tooling designs. Create and check 3D parametric models, 3D assemblies, and 2D drawings based on industry proven engineering specifications, application, budget, price, production costs, methods of production, and SMED methodology. Ability to use CAD analysis tools / CAD templates. Continuous improvement of current standards (ex. manufacturing standards, tolerance stack-up analysis, etc.). Provide internal program support and external supplier support. Work with Manufacturing Engineering to develop and create tooling and gage concepts. Use industry guidelines and to determine best design for tool, gage and fixture. Create tooling and gage designs for the build of prototypes. Review industry standards and teams requirements to make decision on the best design and patch for program and fixates required. Develop standards for best practices of gage, fixture, and tool designs. Attend design for manufacturing activities. Create tooling numbers for new tools/fixtures/gages. Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, Purem within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements. Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Purem Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and follow all ENA polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001. Look for ways to improve and promote quality. Other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a foreign equivalent, and at least two (2) years of experience as an Engineer utilizing all of the following: fixture design; tooling design; GD&T application; tolerance analysis; Siemens NX; Catia V5; CNC machining; machining fixtures; assembly tooling; Poka-yoke systems; CMM fixtures; 3D modeling; 2D drawings; SPC analysis; BOM creation; work instructions; lean manufacturing; 5S methodology; Kaizen events; ergonomic designs; process optimization; DFM/DFA; PLM systems; and APQP support.
