JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team.

Purpose of the Role

The Project Engineer, in partnership with senior engineers and the Director of Engineering, will be primarily responsible for the coordination, planning, scheduling, and execution of JELD-WEN Engineering projects including equipment design and plant engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately estimate job costs. To develop this skill working with upper level engineers.
  • Prepare appropriation requests with all appropriate documents
  • Approved drawing set
  • Bill of Materials (B.O.M.)
  • Project Folder
  • Create 2D AutoCAD drawings / 3D Inventor models.
  • Ability to manage projects and participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
  • Maintain project directories.
  • Drawings
  • Cut Sheets
  • Red Lines
  • Track hours used on a project versus the estimated hours and provide feedback the Engineering Manager.
  • Communicate work load with the Engineering Manager.
  • Communicate drafting and design issues with the Engineering Manager
  • Interface with material suppliers as needed.
  • Analyze requirement and develop a conceptual design.
  • Oversee machine fabrication as it moves through the fabrication process.
  • Oversee equipment installation.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency/responsibility on a daily basis with all projects.
  • Ability to learn plant level processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in project engineering.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor and other drawing software.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles like Strength of Materials, Statics, Dynamics, and Machine Design
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, project management tools and techniques.

Travel:

  • 30% travel expectation.
  • Travel to site to discuss engineering needs with plant management, observe plant processes, take dimensions for new equipment, oversee equipment installation, etc.
