You’ll help shape the future of manufacturing by expanding and transferring work from Groton to Mexicali while driving automation, quality, operational excellence, and measurable results. This hybrid opportunity is based in Phoenix, Arizona, with travel to Mexicali, Mexico required.

The Role:

The Manufacturing Engineer will drive productivity and operational improvements across the Groton and Mexicali facilities, with a primary focus on expanding and transferring work content from Groton to Mexicali. This role will lead cross-functional and cross-plant initiatives focused on improving productivity, reducing rework, increasing automation, and implementing sustainable solutions.

The successful candidate will bring a strong “find it and fix it” mentality, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to coach and influence others. This dynamic role spans Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Project Engineering, and Continuous Improvement, requiring a hands-on leader who can effectively coordinate teams and deliver results.

  • Prioritize safety and quality in all projects, process changes, and solution implementations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize workflow.
  • Conduct data collection, time studies, process analysis, and root-cause problem solving to identify and close performance gaps.
  • Optimize work cells, material flow, and visual management systems, including dashboards, shop aids, shadow boards, and floor markings.
  • Lead 5S, Lean, mistake-proofing, and TPM initiatives; train and coach employees on continuous improvement practices.
  • Partner with Operations, shop-floor employees, and cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Manage the plant transformation roadmap, including project planning, execution, and performance tracking.
  • Lead vendor engagement and support the evaluation and implementation of new products, services, equipment, and technologies.
  • Support the planning and execution of CapEx projects.
  • Communicate improvement opportunities, priorities, actions, and results clearly and transparently.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, problem solving, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing plant environment, with demonstrated success implementing solutions and driving operational improvements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75%, including travel to Mexicali, Mexico, and Groton, Connecticut.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency with CAD software for facility layout modeling and design.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a change agent and lead diverse, cross-functional teams through indirect leadership, collaboration, and influence.
  • Preferred Lean/CI tools including Toyota Production System, Problem-Solving, A3, 5S, VSM, Kanban, TPM, Heijunka, Hoshin Kanri.
  • Bilingual – fluent in Spanish language preferred.
