Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will interact with a cross functional team from manufacturing, quality, engineering, and procurement. A Manufacturing/Production Engineer provides technical support and guidance to the manufacturing team and process. When issues or defects are identified they will resolve the issue, update the relevant documentation and train/implement the updates. A manufacturing engineer must be versed in multi discipline areas of engineering (electrical, mechanical, test, etc.). These processes may include, but are not limited to, wire routing, materials, mechanical fit-up, soldering, component identification/placement, testing, troubleshooting, and wire crimping.
Essential Duties
• Understand/interpret part and assembly drawings and schematics. Drawing and GDT ASME Y14.5 – 2009 standards.
• In-depth knowledge of industry standard manufacturing processes, inspection and test.
• Methodical approach to problem solving.
• Able to gather manufactured product data and determine process capability (Cpk).
• Apply quality assurance criteria (eg. ISO, NADCAP) with emphasis especially in the MRB and disposition process.
• Engineering and documentation change control.
• Development of and technical support for manufacturing processes used to produce Mirion, Canberra products.
• Train and provide technical guidance for manufacturing and test teams.
• Design and develop manufacturing and testing aids.
• Review/Update designs with respect to manufacturability.
• Organizing, planning, commissioning and maintaining production lines.
• Improving existing operations, incorporating new methods and processes.
• Identifying ways to reduce production costs.
• Troubleshoot electrical failures and mechanical defects.
Responsibilities
• Safety
◦ Obey all safety rules and regulations for the Oak Ridge site.
◦ Submit safety opportunities for improvement through the Tier 1 and 2 processes.
◦ Promptly report safety near misses or incidents to EHS or management.

◦ Ensure compliance with our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.
◦ Assist in internal auditing when requested.
• Corporate / Site
◦ Remain current in all required compliance training.
◦ Obey all site regulations in accordance with the policies published in the Employee Handbook and by Human Resources.
Additional Requirements
• Excellent communication and liaison skills.
• Use of physical measurement tools.
• Troubleshooting electronics preferred.
• Use of power and test equipment preferred.
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems is preferred.
• Ability to develop and work with recordkeeping and data management systems and related software applications. (SAP, Autodesk Inventor, JIRA).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external personnel.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% both domestically and abroad as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements
• Education Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
Experience
• 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
