Job Description

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As an Manufacturing Engineer at MKS Inc, you will partner with Production, Maintenance, Customer Support, Supply Chain, Logistic and other departments. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager Manufacturing Engineer.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Design of tools and devices specific to manufacturing of optical elements (from taking over the request for tools to the design of new or modified tools);

  • Discussing the execution drawings, requirements and technical issues with the project supervisor;

  • Realization of technical drawings for tools and devices using SolidWorks (or other specific software programs like Synline/Optotool software), being used in obtaining optical products;

  • Maintaining the SAP ERP system for tracking changes in the Engineering system (ECO, ECR);

  • Use of the SAP ERP system to create and maintain materials (material master), manufacturing networks (BOM's), routing operations, production versions and storage files (DMS).

  • Creating a product catalog (including classification) or a product history in order to have all the designs and technologies stored;

  • Actively participating toMKS organization and processes improvement culture (identify and implement CIP's, solve 8D's at engineering level, monthly Gemba and Safety Walks at Shop-Floor level, scrap rate reduction etc.);

  • Follow-up together with the other departments to ensure that the technical and engineering acts and changes are covered by the necessary documentation/instructions and executed in accordance with the planned requirements;

  • Receiving purchase requests (tools, devices, materials, semi-finished products, consumables) from the Engineering Department or the Mechanical Workshop, management and placement of purchase requests (if applicable) in SAP;

  • Creation and management of programs for the DMU50 CNC machine using the SolidCAM software;

What will you bring to the team:

  • Degree in Optics, Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related science field.

  • Strong understanding of mechanics, materials science and design & analysis.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia, Creo etc.), CAM software (SolidCAM, SolidWorks CAM, Mastercam etc.) and CAE tools (Ansys, MATLAB / Simulink etc.) for finite element analysis (FEA).

  • Understanding Design for Manufacturing (DFM), machining, additive manufacturing, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure designs are producible.

  • Familiar with reading blueprints and interpreting industry standards (e.g., ISO10110, MIL-PRF-13830B, ISO 2768, ISO 1101, ASME Y14.5).

  • Advanced level ability in the use of SAP ERP Software and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Power Point).

  • Fluency in English knowledge

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and project management skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered a plus.
