The salary range for this role, based in Fort Smith, is $78,300.00 to $97,900.00. The range may vary if the role outside of this location. Base salaries are determined during our interview process, by assessing a candidate’s experience, skills against internal peers and against the scope and responsibilities of the position.

We are looking for a talented manufacturing engineer to evaluate and improve manufacturing processes. The manufacturing engineer's responsibilities include identifying areas for improvement, maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, designing new products and methods, as well as ensuring cost-efficiency and conformance with regulatory standards.

To be successful as a manufacturing engineer you should be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise. An outstanding manufacturing engineer should be able to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

Manufacturing Engineer Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluating existing manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement
  • Determining problem resolutions and implementing improvements
  • Developing detailed layouts for equipment, processes, and workflow
  • Researching and developing new processes, equipment, and products
  • Developing and implementing cost-saving measures and quality control systems
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations
  • Maintaining research and activity documentation and preparing reports
  • Analyze Production Data to provide recommendations to maintenance & production teams on focus areas.
  • Complete heat map exercises and Pareto production issues from Demeter to align with site priorities.
  • Conducting research to develop new and improved processes for manufacturing
  • Establishing safety procedures for individuals working with dangerous chemicals
  • Conducting tests and monitoring the equipment process performance throughout production
  • Troubleshooting problems associated with manufacturing processes
  • Evaluating processes and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Estimating production costs

Manufacturing Engineer Skills & Qualifications

  • Analytical skills for troubleshooting designs not working as planned, asking the right questions and finding answers that work
  • Ingenuity for using the broad concepts of industrial engineering and applying them to address specific production problems
  • Interpersonal skills in developing positive working relationships with other employees working with the production process
  • Math skills for using the principals of advanced math topics including troubleshooting work, calculus for analysis and design

Manufacturing Engineer Education & Experience

  • Degree in manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical engineering required
  • 4-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering
  • Experience evaluating and troubleshooting manufacturing operations, processes, and machinery
  • Experience using CAD, CAM, data analysis programs, and related software
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong organization and management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Visio and Project)
  • High level of technical expertise
  • Strong analytical thinker, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification strongly preferred
