Bend, OR | Onsite | Manufacturing Engineer

Suterra is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support our Manufacturing Operations team in Bend, Oregon. This is a hands-on, high-impact role focused on improving processes, supporting production, and ensuring our products are built efficiently, safely, and consistently.

You’ll work at the intersection of Engineering and Production, owning key elements of configuration management, supporting new and existing processes, and driving continuous improvement across operations.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys being on the floor, solving real problems, and turning ideas into practical solutions.

What You’ll Do

Process & Product Definition

  • Own and maintain product Bills of Material (BOMs) across systems
  • Develop and update Manufacturing Control Documents (MCDs), SOPs, and material specifications
  • Ensure all documentation reflects current processes and is aligned across teams
  • Coordinate and secure stakeholder approvals for process and product changes
  • Support change management and guide teams through deviations and updates

Production Support

  • Investigate and resolve quality issues using root cause analysis
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities
  • Partner cross-functionally to implement practical process improvements
  • Evaluate and propose changes to procedures, equipment, and tooling

Project & Continuous Improvement

  • Support implementation of process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Assist with specification, installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Production on operational improvement initiatives

Fabrication & Technical Support

  • Work from blueprints, CAD/CAM files, and technical drawings
  • Support fabrication and prototyping activities, including setup and operation of manual and CNC equipment
  • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and specifications of components and tooling

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field preferred)
  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience with process validation tools (SPC, DOE, etc.)
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks or Autodesk Fusion 360 preferred)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and measurement skills
  • Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable improvements

Working Style

  • Hands-on, practical problem solver
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Operations teams
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and execution
