Primary Purpose of Role

The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for process and tooling design, development and implementation of new processes. This position will provide direction to shop floor employees and skilled trades personnel. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to provide leadership and technical troubleshooting skills in an engineering team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design safety devices and processes to ensure safe operation
  • Work together with teams to implement new technology, improve current processes and safety improvements
  • Design tooling, gauging and processes for manufacturing operations
  • Lead cost reduction, throughput improvement in manufacturing or assembly process. Scrap reduction in machining operations.
  • Interact with factory personnel solve process and tooling related problems.
  • Maintain Engineering records
  • Additional tasks as identified by Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Competencies and Behaviors

  • Experienced in Lean manufacturing concepts and methods to continuously improve the manufacturing process.
  • Proficiency in SAP and SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Understanding of machining processes
  • Must be capable of investigating engineering problems during machining, assembly or processes and recommend appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Applicant should be well organized, efficient and must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with shop floor employees

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, related degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in metal working industry is preferred.
