Job Purpose
The Safety Engineer ensures a safe and healthy work environment by identifying hazards, implementing preventive measures, and ensuring compliance with occupational safety and health regulations. This role combines engineering principles with safety management to protect employees, contractors, and assets.
Ensure adherence to Occupational Safety and Health Act and related enforcement rules for workplace safety and health management.
Maintain compliance with applicable local and international regulations.
Conduct risk assessments during design, manufacturing, and operational phases to prevent occupational hazards.
Identify, analyze, and mitigate chemical, physical, and ergonomic risks in the workplace.
Develop and implement health and safety plans aligned with legal guidelines and corporate standards.
Establish Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Permit-to-Work, and emergency response procedures, etc.
Perform regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, machinery, and processes.
Document findings and recommend corrective actions.
Investigate accidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses; determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
Conduct safety training for employees and contractors on hazard awareness, PPE usage, and compliance requirements.
Promote safety culture through leadership engagement and communication programs.
Maintain safety records, compliance documentation, and performance metrics.
Prepare reports for internal reviews and regulatory authorities.
Required Certification: Level A Occupational Safety/Health Management Specialist (mandatory)
