Job Description

  • As an Automation Process Engineer, you will drive technical topics in manufacturing process at the CM and collaborate with the Manufacturing team globally. Your focus is primarily all machine processes, but you can also work with manual processes.
  • You are located at the interface of the Customer's Manufacturing, R&D, and Supply Chain. You will work alongside the Customer's Global Manufacturing teams, R&D Engineering teams and CM factories to develop and ramp NPI programs, supporting the mission critical goal of quality and quantity. You will feel equally comfortable working with manual assembly processes as well as different tooling or machinery used in the process.
  • As an Automation Process Engineer you will feel comfortable working hands-on at the factory floor and ensuring the Customer's machinery runs reliably and produces good quality products to end-users.
  • Support and monitor the Customer's manufacturing at contract manufacturer sites; facilitate problem solving and remove obstacles and bottlenecks.
  • Give factory teams training about assembly process of the product and monitor assembly quality.
  • Deal with equipment suppliers to find and develop solutions for any issues with machinery on the floor.
  • Monitor all automated processes to ensure flawless quality and maximum uptime. Follow-up machines' performance and drive preventive maintenance when needed.
  • Follow-up machine uptime and failure modes in order to increase reliability and throughput by collaborating with CM and machine suppliers.
  • Plan your activities in the interface of the Customer's NPI Programs and factories. Ensure manufacturing readiness, timely execution of prototype builds, and successful factory ramp ups.
  • Drive action plans for any process capability or product quality issues to ensure end customer satisfaction.
  • Report the performance of the processes to NPI program and the Customer's Manufacturing team.
  • Work cross-functionally to frame complex decisions, align on priorities, and drive timely, informed choices that balance speed, quality, cost, and long-term platform impact across products and programs
  • Analyze relationships between manufacturing KPIs and product design choices to identify and implement solutions that improve product quality, capability, and factory efficiency.
  • Drive DFMs, line bringup, and process / fixture qualification plans to meet exciting product roadmaps

Required Qualifications

  • Proven track record working in/with consumer electronics manufacturing. Hands-on experience of electronics assembly processes, and collaboration with factories.
  • Experience in miniaturized product designs.
  • Experience in contributing to product design (DFM), design of manufacturing tooling and manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process parameters and statistical process control as well as experience in developing and fine-tuning process control methods and improving yields.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively in a complex environment and with cross-functional teams, external parties, and factories.
  • Systematic and organized way of working. You effectively identify and set priorities for the tasks at hand.
  • Feel comfortable working with written and spoken English.
  • Possibility and willingness to travel.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes from early proof-of-concept through pilot builds and into sustained mass production, navigating the transitions and tradeoffs required at each phase.
  • Direct experience working with manufacturing partners in Asia, including time spent on factory floors supporting line bring-up, equipment integration, and production ramps.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, machine programming, automation controls, or mechanical system design.
  • A deep passion for making and driving decisions with experimentation and data.
