Inside the Role

Chassis Manufacturing Engineering combines a diverse engineering background, including mechanical and manufacturing engineering, with hands-on vehicle product knowledge and applied project management. As a manufacturing engineer, you will bring your experience and enthusiasm to the team, take a lead role in developing and establishing effective processes and technologies, and help to grow knowledge within the Pre-Paint and Mid Chassis ME team and the department.

Daimler Trucks is seeking an experienced engineer to innovate, create, and develop vehicle assembly processes. In this role you will design, develop and deliver manufacturing processes that offer unmatched quality and features to our customers.

This role will lead both cross functional ME teams as well as lead the Mid-Chassis and Engine Assembly ME team in day to day Product Project and Non Product Project deliverables.

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Develop the strategy to update current brown field facilities with Reference factory principals while being focused on: facilities modernization, connected systems, Factory 2033 systems, industry 4.0 principals and MCS.
  • Lead team of engineers in following through the design review and procurement process including budget preparation, justification, acquisition, facilities preparations, tryout, equipment installation, labor standards and training coordination for assigned projects
  • Through concurrent engineering, identify production-related problems ahead of implementation into the plants
  • Apply advanced manufacturing technology in machine control systems and automation into DTNA manufacturing processes
  • Provide advanced engineering expertise and guidance on the specification, acquisition, and installation of equipment and truck components to ensure compliance with all government and safety regulations
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing problems at DTNA plants as they occur
  • Evaluate current assembly processes and assess capital investment plans for future production requirement.

Knowledge You Should Bring

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical engineering field with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Outgoing individual who is solution oriented and has excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to accomplish tasks with the highest standards of ethics while having a proven track record of developing strong working relationships with fellow employees
  • Demonstration of leadership behaviors and experience leading cross functional teams.
  • Firm understanding and ability to execute all FAL deliverables associated with PAR and NPP projects within Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Ability to network and create allies with upstream and downstream stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles with proven ability to apply technologies, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of vehicle electronic programming systems or related engineered components required
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills, especially cross-functional collaboration required
  • Understanding of engineering processes & downstream impacts
  • Experience with identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lead large, Category 1 sized product projects
  • Travel within US and Mexico required (up to 20%)
  • Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Working knowledge in electrical and electronic hardware, machine parameter/ controls and ability to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues preferred
