Join our Services team within Rotating Equipment Services division as a Journey-person Machinist to help us take Sulzer Rotating Equipment Services (Canada) Ltd., to the next level.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Operates manual horizontal boring mills daily to perform line boring on split-case pump housings and other rotating equipment.
  • Sets up and operates manual machine tools under limited supervision.
  • Machine within tight tolerances to meet engineering/customer/contract specifications and applies knowledge of qualities of metals and alloys being machined.
  • Plans sequence of own work operations and methods of set-up including methods of mounting, levelling, aligning, holding and fastening work. Interprets blueprints, charges, tables, handbook formulas, sketches and written and verbal orders.
  • Lays out work according to requirements. Selects and grinds own cutting tools.
  • Performs any bench work necessary to finish and fit parts to required specifications.
  • Must be able to plan and organize own work activities
  • Must have excellent understanding of customer focused, service-based business.
  • Must have strong people skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be capable of understanding and applying procedural based work processes.
  • Must have good communication skills with strong organizational ability and detail orientation.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Working knowledge and ability to effectively set-up all or most of the following machines: Engine Lathe, Milling Machine, Radial Drill, Horizontal Boring Mill, Vertical Boring Mill
  • CNC machine tool experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of tool geometry and application
  • Working knowledge of effects of feeds and speeds on alloy materials
  • Ability to work overtime as required

Location: Located in Edmonton, AB.
