Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist specializing in shipbuilding to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and maintaining precision components used in the construction and maintenance of ships. Your expertise in manual machining techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will be essential to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What you’ll do

  • Set up and operate conventional/manual machine tools including; engine lathes, vertical & horizontal milling machines, radial arm drills, surface grinders, line boring equipment.
  • Machine and repair marine components such as; propeller shafts, rudder stocks stern tube components, bushings and bearing, couplings and flanges, pump shafts and impellers, valve components.
  • Perform shaft straightening, keyway cutting, threading, and taper work.
  • Conduct field machining aboard vessels or in dry dock when required.
  • Reverse engineer worn or obsolete parts when drawings are unavailable.

What you’ll bring

  • Red Seal Machinist Certification
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a manual machinist within a shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Ability to work aboard vessels in confined or restricted spaces.
  • Experience with line boring and portable machining equipment

The hourly salary for this position is $59.29.
