Job Description

We are hiring a skilled Manual Machinist to support our climate-controlled, high-mix, low-volume precision machining facility in Tulsa, OK. We are an industry-leading manufacturer building advanced, custom equipment for the construction and utilities industries.

In this role, you will work hands-on with metal parts using manual lathes and manual mills (including Bridgeport Manual Mills), crafting each piece with care and accuracy. Because our work is highly custom and complex, we welcome machinists from all backgrounds. Whether your deepest experience is on manual mills, lathes, or both, if you take pride in traditional craftsmanship and enjoy solving unique machining challenges, we have a place for you.

Culture of Ownership:

Despite our large scale, we maintain a strong family-owned feel that heavily values hard work, growth, and accountability. We care deeply about reliability—showing up on time, being ready at the machine, and taking pride in the craftsmanship of the parts you produce. This isn't a place where you just clock in and hide in a silo; our culture thrives on collaboration and a shared willingness to pitch in where production demands it. If you are a problem-solver who owns the job end-to-end, you will fit right in.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Manual Machinist, you will own your work center, maintaining high quality and troubleshooting operational issues in real-time.
  • Set up and operate manual mills and lathes, including Bridgeport Manual Mills
  • Perform your own complex setups and create custom workholding for unique, one-of-a-kind parts
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and heavy GD&T to meet exact specifications
  • Machine high-mix, low-volume, and highly custom parts with precision and care
  • Perform manual measurement and inspection using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators to ensure top-quality results
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges as they arise without relying on automated programming
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace following 5S standards

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • This profile is ideal for a traditional craftsman who thrives on hands-on, setup-heavy, precision work.
  • Proven experience in manual machining (experience on both manual mills and lathes is highly preferred)

  • Comfort working independently on highly custom, one-of-a-kind, or small-batch parts
  • Strong measuring and manual inspection skills to verify tight tolerances
  • Track record of reliability, punctuality, and taking true ownership of your work
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, and move throughout most of your shift, as well as the capability to lift and move parts up to 50 pounds (using lifting devices when possible)

About Laborup

Laborup is the #1 AI powered talent platform for America’s industrial workforce. We use AI to create jobs, not take them away. We help HR and plant leaders hire and keep the skilled workers who keep plants running: machinists, welders, maintenance techs, operators, industrial electricians, and engineers. USA Today called us the “LinkedIn for blue collar workers,” and Forbes profiled our work in “How AI Is Solving America’s 1 Trillion Dollar Manufacturing Labor Crisis.”

Today we work with manufacturers from 50 person shops to large public companies with tens of thousands of employees, and the story is the same everywhere. It is hard to find talent, hard to keep good people, and staffing costs keep rising. In a market where filling critical industrial roles can take months and turnover is constant, Laborup helps teams move qualified workers from first contact to on site interview in days instead of weeks and keep them on the floor longer.

Most of the workers our customers need are not on LinkedIn or the usual job boards. Laborup uses AI to find this hidden workforce, call and text them, screen and qualify them, build real profiles, and match them directly to the plants and roles where they can succeed. For workers, that means real, permanent roles at serious manufacturers, not one off gigs. For companies, it is durable infrastructure for hiring and retention at scale in a labor market that will stay tight for years.

We work across nuclear, defense, and advanced manufacturing, as well as sectors like aerospace, automotive, and food production. Teams that use Laborup hire 5 to 10 times faster, see around 3 times better retention, and cut cost per hire by up to 50 to 70 percent. That turns into fewer empty shifts, fewer missed orders, more stable teams, and more capacity without more headache.

We are building the modern talent system for America’s industrial base with a simple long term goal: put a billion industrial workers to work in good jobs that matter.
