Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Category/Shift

Non-exempt, Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Coverage includes three schedule types:

Type 1- Rotating:

4 Shifts (5AM-3PM) – 6 Days off

4 Shifts (7PM-5AM) – 3 Days off

2 Shifts (7AM-5PM) & 2 Shifts (5AM-3PM) – 28 hours off,

1 Shift (2PM-12AM) & 3 Shifts (5PM-5AM) – 3 Days off

Type 2 – Non-Rotating: Weekdays, 5 Shifts (M – F) – 2 Days off

Type 3 – Split: 5 Shifts (M – W) & (Sat & Sun) – 2 Days off

The Job You Will Perform:

The Fiber Supply Scaler position is a role that ensures the safe, efficient, accurate, timely processing, and quality of all scaled commodities entering the Mansfield Mill. Safety is paramount - both personal, team safety, and the safety of visitors, as well as maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Safety – work safely; must always exhibit safe behaviors and adhere to all International Paper safety principles. Ensure all drivers entering the mill are wearing the proper PPE. Provide and explain the Safety Strap Policy to inbound truck drivers before allowing them to enter the mill.
  • Security - Maintain access control points to include Scalehouse security and set flow of traffic into the mill to include all wood, chemicals, paper, scrap paper and any miscellaneous trucks entering the mill. Scalers will annually review Policy #30050 – Fiber Receipts Internal Control & Security.
  • Key Tasks: Scale wood products, recovered fiber products, raw materials (chemicals, etc.) and paper trucks into facilities. Ensure that each driver delivery ticket and bill of lading is properly filled out. Maintain Scaler exception log report, enforcement of material specifications, ensure scale maintenance, provide accurate inventory reports, weekly scale weight checks, ensure all drivers and deliveries adhere to International Paper’s safety standards to include the Driver identification card program.
  • Provide timely communications and assistance to the Fiber Supply Team.
  • Serves as the first point of contact with truck drivers, vendors, and contractors, and at all times will conduct him/herself in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must wear all required PPE (personal protective equipment) and report all injuries and damage occurring to company and/or vendor property.

  • Manage Truck Turnaround Time - Be aware of and communicate mill operations that may affect the efficiency of turnaround time & processing.

  • Check wood to ensure that all inbound loads are within mill specifications and trucks are loaded properly.

  • Check the OCC fibers report to see deliveries for that day.

  • Must be able to work in adverse conditions such as rain, heat, cold and dust.

  • Perform or manage housekeeping functions at and around scalehouse.

  • Willing and able to work flexible schedules, overtime as necessary including weekends and holidays. Must report on time.

  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.

  • Required to obtain a Scaler’s License from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.

  • Perform other duties as required.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Experience with truck scales, customer service, knowledge of fiber specifications and species is preferred. Must demonstrate ability or potential to develop basic computer skills. Must be able to adapt to change, cope with different personalities and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

  • Computer skills and knowledge of software applications.
