Job Description

The purpose of the Mandel School Student Ambassadors position is to support the efforts to recruit and retain a high quality and diverse student body for all formats of the Mandel School’s programs (Masters of Social Work: Weekly, Online and Weekend format, Dual Degree students as well as the MNO and Certificate of Nonprofit Management). The foremost consideration in our office is to meet the needs of our prospective and admitted students. This position is responsible for efforts regarding student outreach and engagement. Ambassadors must share in the mission and goals of the Admissions Office and the Mandel School.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide information regarding the admission process, program structure and strengths,curriculum options and general questions about the MSW, MNO and dual degree programs to prospective students and their support system.

  1. Weekly Student Ambassadors (MSW and MNO):

  1. Summer 2026

    1. Meet with visiting students to the School

      1. lead tours of the Mandel School and Mandel Center

      2. accompany student/guest(s) to lunch or coffee to discuss the Mandel experience

    2. Participate in group Zoom webinars throughout the summer

    3. Engage in individual outreach and support (call, email, text, Zoom, chat) of admitted students per an assigned “caseload” to prevent summer melt

  2. Fall 2026

    1. Meet with visiting students to the School

      1. lead tours of the Mandel School and Mandel Center

      2. accompany student/guest(s) to lunch or coffee to discuss their Mandel experience

    2. Participate in monthly evening Zoom webinars

      1. Based on availability attend several (not all) webinars during the semester

  3. Spring 2027

    1. Engage in individual outreach and support (call, email, text, Zoom, chat) of admitted students per an assigned “caseload”

    2. attend Open House Saturday, February 28, 2026, all day (place hold on Friday as well for reception and event preparation)

  1. Weekend MSW Student Ambassadors

    1. Summer 2026

      1. Participate in select Admissions Office Information Sessions/Webinars on Zoom ,7 pm.

      2. Attend in person Saturday, June7 Weekend Experience recruitment event.

    2. Fall 2026

      1. Lead tours of the Mandel School and Mandel Center

      2. Accompany student to lunch or coffee to discuss their Mandel experience.

      3. Participate in select Admissions Office Information Sessions on Zoom.

    3. Spring 2027

      1. Participate in select Admissions Office Information Sessions on Zoom (certain set dates for fall and spring semesters, all held at 7 pm).

      2. Engage in individual outreach and support (call, email, text, Zoom) of admitted students per an assigned “caseload”.

  2. Online MSW Student Ambassadors

    1. Summer 2026

      1. Participate in evening Admissions Office Information Sessions/Webinars on Zoom.

      2. Engage in individual outreach and support (call, email, text, Zoom, chat) of admitted students per an assigned “caseload” to prevent summer melt.

    2. Fall 2026

      1. Participate in evening Admissions Office Information Sessions/ Webinars on Zoom.

      2. Connect with newly admitted online students to answer any questions they have about the program.

    3. Spring 2027

      1. Participate in evening Admissions Office Information Sessions/ Webinars on Zoom.

      2. Connect with newly admitted online students to answer questions they may have about the program.

      3. If in Cleveland area - attend Open House Saturday, February 28, 2026, all day.

2. Be trained to use the Mandel School’s CRM Slate. Document all interactions with prospective, applied and admitted students in the system.

3. Office projects to be completed while working in the office.

Skills and Qualifications:

Demonstrated passion for the Mandel School and Case Western Reserve University. Excellent interpersonal, customer service skills.

Ability to be self-motivated and flexible while working in an open concept space.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Respond promptly to requests to support campus visits from the Admissions Coordinator.

Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Previous experience in an admissions office or other related higher education based environment is ideal yet not required.

At all times and in all situations, represent CWRU and the Admissions Department in a professional, friendly and honest manner.

Work Capabilities:

Candidates must have access to a computer and phone to conduct Zoom meetings.

Time Commitment:

This is a part time position. The hours will vary as prospective students request appointments, Information Sessions are scheduled and projects posted. Timely responses to students is critical. Some evening and or weekend hours will be necessary to allow for event participation.

Mandel School Ambassadors must attend established trainings.

Reporting and Supervision:

Daily tasks and projects assignments will be managed by both the Assistant Director of Admissions and Manager, Enrollment and Recruitment. Ambassadors may also receive assignments from any staff member in the office.

Compensation:

The Student Ambassador position is paid at an hourly rate of $13.00 and is responsible for accurately reporting hours worked at the end of each shift in HCM. Retroactive approval of hours will not be authorized. Ambassadors are paid on a bi-weekly basis and must set up direct deposit or pick up checks from the university’s Office of Student Employment.

Qualifications

Applicants for the Mandel School Student Ambassador position should demonstrate the following:

  • Current student in good academic standing in the Mandel School at Case Western Reserve University
  • Enthusiasm for representing the Mandel School and sharing personal experiences with prospective students.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally through phone, email, text, Zoom, and in-person interactions.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Comfortable working with diverse student populations and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to respond promptly to Admissions Office requests and student inquiries.
  • Willingness to participate in trainings, events, webinars, tours, and outreach activities.
  • Ability to learn and use the Mandel School CRM system (Slate) to document student interactions.
  • Access to a reliable computer, internet connection, and phone for virtual engagement and Zoom meetings.
  • Previous admissions, student leadership, customer service, mentoring, or higher education experience is preferred but not required.

Student Ambassadors are expected to attend required trainings and maintain professional communication with prospective and admitted students throughout the academic year.
