For over 35 years, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin has stood for excellence in production science. We are dedicated to combining science and practice in the field of industrial production and offer application-oriented system solutions for the entire range of industrial tasks - from product development to the production process, the maintenance of capital goods and the recycling of products through to the design and management of factory operations.

The department of Production Machines and System Management develops solutions for plant and process automation as well as new software. One focus is on applications in the context of medical technology and robotics.

What you will do

• Research and analysis of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 14971, ISO 17664, IEC 80601, IEC 60601, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC)
• Derivation of technical requirements for robot-assisted systems in medical technology
• Support in the creation of documentation on standard compliance
• Collaboration on research projects in the field of production engineering and medical technology

What you bring to the table

• Studies in medical technology, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, production engineering, or related fields
• Mandatory internship in accordance with your internship regulations
• Strong team player and ability to work independently and responsibly
• Interest in standards and regulations, particularly in the field of medical technology and robotics
• Structured, careful, and analytical approach to work
• Very good German skills and good English skills
• Initial experience with quality management or regulatory affairs desirable
• Experience with SIEMENS Polarion ALM software an advantage
• Initiative, independent and structured approach to work, and interest in scientific work

The weekly working time is 39 hours (full-time).

Remuneration is based on the federal guidelines for internship remuneration.

The duration of the thesis depends on the requirements of your university.
