At ERM, as a Managing Technical Consultant, Wildlife Biologist, based in Vancouver, Smithers, Calgary, or Saskatoon, you’ll lead critical wildlife programs, influence environmental decision-making, and guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful, sustainable outcomes.

What You'll Bring:

You are an experienced wildlife biologist and leader who thrives in complex project environments. You bring strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders while delivering high-quality outcomes.

Required

  • B.Sc. in Biological Sciences or a related field

  • 4+ years of environmental consulting experience

  • Experience with industrial projects, including environmental effects analysis, mitigation planning, and monitoring

  • Strong understanding of federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and survey methodologies (especially in BC, Alberta, and Northern Canada)

  • Proven experience leading wildlife field programs (birds, amphibians, large mammals)

  • Advanced technical writing and reporting skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor team members

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule

  • Commitment to health and safety protocols

  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability tooperatea company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area

  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship

Preferred

  • M.Sc. in Biological Sciences or a related field

  • 12+ years preferred of environmental consulting experience

  • Experience in government and/or mining, oil and gas sectors

  • Statistical analysis and/or spatial habitat mapping skills

  • Strong bird identification skills

  • Experience with caribou-related projects

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead wildlife field programs across Alberta, British Columbia, and Northern Canada

  • Conduct wildlife surveys, ecological assessments, and habitat evaluations

  • Prepare wildlife assessments and management plans for EAs/EISs in compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Deliver technical reports, recommendations, and client-ready outputs

  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality of deliverables

  • Collaborate with subcontractors, regulators, landowners, Indigenous communities, and clients

  • Support proposal development, including scopes of work and cost estimates

  • Participate in business development with existing and prospective clients

  • Lead, mentor, and support junior biologists

  • Collaborate with ERM’s global network of environmental and social experts

For the Managing Technical Consultant, Wildlife Biologist position, the anticipated annual base pay is $95,651–$119,999 (CAD) Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
