Job Description

Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens | Frederick, Maryland

Lead a team. Grow a business. Serve a community. Make an impact.

NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Managing Partner of Family Service at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens in Frederick, Maryland.

With a collaborative leadership structure, each Managing Partner has the opportunity to make a lasting impact while embracing the entrepreneurial spirit that defines NorthStar and our teams.

As Managing Partner of Family Service, you will lead the people and strategy behind our Family Service team. You'll build and develop a high-performing team, establish fair and achievable goals, drive sustainable growth, and create a culture where accountability and exceptional service go hand in hand.

At NorthStar, dedication is valued, potential is recognized, and ethical leadership is celebrated. We're looking for a leader who wants more than a management position. We're looking for someone who wants to build something meaningful.

A Special Place to Lead

Resthaven has been serving families in the Frederick community since 1961 and has grown into a 100-acre, full-service location offering funeral, cremation, and cemetery services. Resthaven joined NorthStar Memorial Group in 2022, combining its longstanding community presence with the resources of a larger organization.

The property has continued to evolve throughout its history, including the addition of a pet cemetery, an indoor climate-controlled mausoleum, and expanded funeral, cremation, and cemetery services.

For the right leader, this is an opportunity to help write the next chapter of an established Frederick institution.

What You'll Do

  • - Lead, coach, and develop the Family Service team, establishing clear expectations and helping each Sales Advisor reach their potential.
  • - Monitor sales activities to ensure every advisor represents NorthStar, Resthaven, our services, merchandise, pricing, and policies professionally and accurately.
  • - Establish achievable performance goals and regularly review individual and team results, providing meaningful coaching and accountability.
  • - Develop and execute local marketing, community outreach, and lead-development strategies that increase awareness of Resthaven and generate opportunities for the Family Service team.
  • - Ensure Family Service Advisors can confidently and compassionately educate families about cemetery, cremation, funeral, and memorialization options.
  • - Coach the team in prospecting, referral development, community engagement, presentations, follow-up, and closing.
  • - Train and develop advisors on required cemetery documentation and processes, including interment orders, verification procedures, property and interment cards, contracts, deeds, quitclaims, and issue-resolution documentation.
  • - Ensure the team understands and adheres to applicable FTC requirements, state laws, and NorthStar policies governing cemetery and funeral sales and operations.
  • - Partner with other Resthaven leaders to create a seamless experience for the families we are privileged to serve.
  • - Recruit, develop, and retain talented Family Service professionals who share our commitment to service, integrity, and performance.

NorthStar's internal Managing Partner framework emphasizes people leadership, talent acquisition and development, business and financial acumen, understanding revenue drivers, family experience, and community and sales outreach.

What You'll Bring

  • - 5+ years of sales experience, with funeral, cemetery, preneed, or deathcare sales experience strongly preferred.
  • - 2+ years of successful sales leadership, management, or supervisory experience.
  • - Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop sales professionals.
  • - Strong business acumen and a results-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • - Excellent professional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • - Ability to balance high expectations for performance with compassionate, ethical leadership.
  • - Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • - Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Who Thrives Here

You're competitive, but you care deeply about how results are achieved.

You enjoy developing people as much as delivering results. You believe accountability and encouragement belong together. You see opportunities others may overlook, and you're comfortable taking ownership of turning those opportunities into action.

Most importantly, you understand that behind every sales goal is a family making an important decision about someone they love or about their own future.

That's what makes leadership at Resthaven different.

Why NorthStar Memorial Group?

This is an opportunity to lead with the autonomy and accountability of an entrepreneur while being part of a larger organization committed to serving families and developing its people.

At Resthaven, you'll have the opportunity to grow the business, build a great team, strengthen relationships throughout the Frederick community, and make a measurable impact on the families we serve.

If you're ready to bring your leadership, competitive drive, and passion for developing people to a career with purpose, we'd like to meet you.

Join Resthaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens and help lead its next chapter.
