Managing Director, Technology Media & Telecommunications (“TMT”) Banking will be responsible for leading and managing the coverage of relationships across the TMT sector within Corporate & Institutional Banking (“CIB”). The selected candidate will have relevant experience and skills to meaningfully contribute to the development and expansion of long-term relationships with clients in the TMT sector and their global locations.

The individual will be evaluated on their ability to drive sector strategy, effectively lead and manage the team, and deliver profitable growth across the client base. Core target outcomes will be to originate new high-value transactions for clients, up-tier client access and deepen our strategic dialogue with key decision makers at our clients, develop the team of bankers into future leaders, and have measurable impact in strategic initiatives that positively impact the broader firm.

In addition to the commercial aspects of the position, the selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the relationship management function for their coverage portfolio—including oversight of credit, KYC and/or internal projects and initiatives, as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Head of TMT Banking to effectively manage the strategy, including people strategy, client strategy and enterprise impact
  • Develop and maintain ‘trusted advisor’ relationship and access at key decision maker level for current and target clients
  • Work to reposition the firm to higher value-added solicitation, enhancing the perception of the Bank amongst its existing and prospective clients
  • Co-ordinate origination and execution of ‘event-driven’ or major ‘significant flow’ business
  • Build the TMT Banking and CIB franchise value/reputation in the marketplace
  • Drive achievement against targets for revenue generation, product alignment, customer satisfaction and cost management
  • Contribute to the building of a professional, proactive, and performance-driven culture; assist with succession planning for the sector and/or region and participate in coaching schemes as appropriate
  • Establish and maintain networks for co-operation with other HSBC businesses, to support the creation of solutions to customer needs that span geographical/product boundaries and regulatory environments
  • Aggressively grow HSBC’s share of client wallet, involving product specialists to ensure product capabilities are in line with client/sector requirements
  • Manage sector/advisory teams established for deals and ensure they are executed both in a timely and effective manner
  • Support the implementation of major change initiatives within TMT and CIB
  • Understand and ensure compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved
  • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators
  • Undertake all required activities as directed by line manager or as agreed in annual objectives in support of the furthering of the TMT and CIB business

Qualifications

Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

  • Track record of building & developing relationships at Treasurer/CFO/CEO/Board Level
  • Ability to develop a strategic dialogue with clients
  • Industry expert
  • Proven record of leading and motivating deal teams
  • Excellent knowledge of HSBC Group and products, and a strong network of contacts across all business areas
  • Proven record of proactively originating and execution event driven business

Your final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and several variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
