Reporting to the Managing Director, Global Total Rewards, the Managing Director, Global Benefits & Well-being will lead the benefits function at Greystar, with oversight of strategy for approximately 30,000 team members across 19 countries in North America, South America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. This role sets the long-term vision and strategy for a competitive, equitable, and financially disciplined benefits program that attracts, retains, and engages talent across the countries in which we operate.

The Managing Director owns the US benefits budget, drives governance and compliance across all regions, and acts as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on benefits philosophy, market positioning, and enterprise risk. This leader leads a US-based team of 4, with 2 direct reports, and partners with regional HR teams globally for local benefits implementation. This leader will partner closely with payroll, leave administration, global HR Business Partners, the Benefits Committee, and the 401(k) Investment Committee.

Strategy & Program Design

  • Define and champion Greystar’s global well-being vision,settingmulti-year strategy for benefit programs that align with our benefits philosophy, total rewards vision, and overall businessobjectives

  • Partner with our benefits brokers to conduct the annualbenefitsrenewals, ensuring we receive competitive rates without compromising the quality of our programs, and take ownership ofthe USannual open enrollment process.

  • In partnership with our brokers, designequitableand competitive programs globally, whilemaintaininga whole-person approach through total well-being initiatives

  • Facilitate global benchmarking and market intelligence activities across our operating regions,leveragingdata analytics andutilizationinsights to inform program design decisions and ensure competitiveness in each local market.

  • Serve as a strategic partner on M&A activities,providingbenefits-related guidance, oversight, and due diligencesupport

  • Own end-to-end benefits strategy, design, and budget for the US; serve as the global subject matter expert and strategic advisor for international markets, where benefitsbudgets are held locally and administration is managed by regional HR teams.

Financial Oversight & Governance

  • Own and govern theUSbenefitsbudget, including multi-year financial planning, cost forecasting, and scenario modeling(in partnership with our broker); present budget performance and strategic recommendations directly to senior leadership and finance stakeholders.

  • Establish andmaintaina global benefits governance framework, including oversight of plan audits, regulatory filings, risk management controls, and compliance with country-specific legislative requirements. Ensurebenefitscoverage and programs are compliant with all local laws.

  • Partner legal, employee relations, finance, risk management, and line of business leaders to understand the legal implications to policy design or changes prior to implementation

  • Manage Greystar’s Benefits Committee and 401(k) Investment Committee meetings.

  • Manage relationships with all benefit plan carriers/vendors, brokers, and consultants.

Technology & Operations

  • Drive benefits technology strategy, including evaluating and implementing AI-enabled tools and digital solutionsto enhance benefitsdelivery and team member experience;ensureseamless integration with global HRIS, payroll, and reporting systems to enable scalable,accurateadministration across all geographies.

  • Provide strategic oversight and direction forbenefitscommunications and education to ensure clear,consistentand effective messaging for team members.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing benefits team;establisha talent and succession strategy for the function, and expand the team’s global footprint in alignment with Greystar’s growth.

  • Serve as the executive-level spokesperson for the global benefits function; prepare and deliver materialsandexecutive briefings that translate complex data into clear strategic narratives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in global employee benefits management, design, and administration, including tenure in a senior leadership role within a multinational organization;demonstratedexperience of leading benefits strategy for a workforce of 10,000+ across multiple geographies.

  • Deep global benefitsexpertisewith hands-on experience designing and managing programs across multiple geographies, including the US, EMEA, APAC, and Latin America;demonstratedunderstanding of country-specific statutory requirements, cultural nuances, and local market practices

  • Proventrack recordof building, leading, and scaling global teams; experience developing talent and managing through complexorganizational structures

  • Strong relationship management skills for both internal stakeholders and vendor partners

  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence C-suitestakeholders; skilled at translating complex benefits topics into compelling business cases and executive-level presentations

  • Demonstrated financial acumen with direct ownership of a significant benefits budget; experience with multi-year cost modeling, plan performance evaluation, self-funded program oversight, and ROI analysis

  • Strong data and analytics orientation; ability toleveragebenefitsutilizationdata, benchmarking intelligence, and dashboards to drive evidence-based decisions and continuous program improvement

  • Ability to see broader strategic HR vision and recommend alternative solutions when needed

  • Customer-centric and results-driven;demonstratesa track recordof delivering measurable outcomes against program, financial, andpeoplegoals

  • CBP or CEBShighlypreferred

  • Strong project/process management skills

  • Willingness totravelasnecessary.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, including AI, and experience evaluating or implementing digital solutions to enhancebenefitsdelivery and team member experience

  • Workingknowledge of platforms such as Workday, Dayforce, or similar systems

The base salary range for this role is $225,000 - $275,000

Additional Compensation

Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including business requirements, prior experience, current skills and geographical location.

  • Corporate Positions In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in a quarterly or annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

  • Onsite Property Positions In addition to the base salary, this role may be eligible to participate in weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly bonus programs.
