Delivers and executes on the Data Analytics & Governance Technology Strategy and roadmap working with multiple internal and external partners, identifies areas for improvement in response to the strategy, regulatory requirements and best practise. Ensures delivery and execution of supporting technology plans.
Determines necessary Big Data & Analytics Platform & Tools necessary. Partners with DGA, EA, Engineering, Operations and other stakeholders to implement the platform and integrate into the existing landscape.
Formulates the correct strategy to migrate data from one appliance to another platform. Ensures delivery and execution of supporting plans.
Bridges business and technology to drive data transformation, modernize platforms, and enable advanced analytics capabilities across the LOBs.
Ensures compliance with Enterprise operating processes, service level objectives and reporting, technology architecture and application availability.
Ensures alignment with Enterprise Architecture directives and all technology standards.
Provides Business Partners with an effective primary point of contact and ownership for planning, delivery and management of technology solutions for Advanced Data Analytics.
Assesses value of potential work; have complete understanding of all work included in the annual plan, determining overall plans and priorities
Where required investigates, recommends and approves changes to systems, procedures, products and people to meet plans, achieve goals, and maximize scorecard
Provides financial management and oversight of an annual development and operating budget ensuring appropriate allocation of financial resources to meet the Enterprise Technology needs.
Partners with Sourcing to negotiate software license agreements and professional services agreements, ensuring optimal deployment of BMO’s financial resources.
Negotiates technology priorities; develops and maintains a financially sound integrated divisional investment plan
Identifies and implements strategic technology in support of Data & Analytics roadmap. Directs teams responsible for sourcing and software assessment activities to ensure new and/or enhanced technologies align to all Enterprise standards and business requirements.
Maintains strong relationships with Technology CIO teams, Data Governance & Analytics, Global Information Technology & Risk Management, Enterprise Infrastructure and Enterprise Architecture. Ensures understanding and develops alignment across technology teams working on Data Analytics & Business Intelligence projects.
Acts as the Big Data & Advanced Analytics Technology Subject Matter expert in dealing with all integration functions, understanding the sophistication and complexity of those solutions. Communicates in a manner that enables business understanding of all technology solutions.
Acts as the primary contact for Business Partners and Senior Executives in the joint development and implementation of strategic directions, new business opportunities and initiatives and/or product service developments
Brings strategic value-added professional/technical solutions to clients, senior managers/executives both internally and externally
Collaborates with key industry partners, vendors and academic institutions to fulfill new technology needs and solution opportunities
Participates in the development of Business Partner’s strategic plans to enable annual results as well as results over a two-to-three-year timeframe
Partners with external technology software and service providers to ensure appropriate supplier governance, managing risk from a supplier perspective.
Recruits, leads, manages and directs a team of Senior Managers, Senior Technical Specialist, Developers, Business Analysts, Technology Specialists and Quality Assurance Analysts in support of application development and delivery.
Develops effective Training programs required for employees & business users/analysts migrating from old to new technology platform.
Develops effective training, performance assessment and coaching techniques to build a high performing team. Provides planning, leadership and direction to employees in order to align tasks and assignments with technology, business partner and enterprise goals and objectives.
Provides leadership and oversight in the recruitment, selection, retention, rewarding and development of employees. Establishes goals and objectives, assessing skills and knowledge gaps, allocating resources to achieve objectives and close gaps.
Ensures the ideal mix of FTE, Global Resources and Contract Staff to ensure delivery requirements are met and risk of key knowledge and expertise loss is mitigated through carefully resource and succession planning.
Establishes a culture and work environment that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse skilled workforce.
Within the mandate of this role, promotes and supports the Bank’s risk culture including ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for risk-taking activities, promoting an environment of open communication and effective challenge, and establishing the “tone from the top” through leading by example.

University degree in Management Information systems, computer science, computer engineering or related field.
Minimum 15 years progressive work experience in the computer science or information technology industry including technical leadership, project management, and management responsibilities.
5+ years’ experience designing & implementing innovative Big Data, Advanced Analytics & Business Intelligence applications in large/Fortune 500 companies.
Exhibits advanced knowledge of technology implementation processes, systems development lifecycle
Exhibits a working knowledge of core Enterprise competencies including knowledge of the Enterprise’s business environment and products, understanding of the workings of the Enterprise’s organization and procedures, and proficiency in the use of standards/tools and methodologies, as achieved either by direct BMO experience or industry equivalent experience
Strategic visioning & agility, and advanced managerial leadership capability to provide overall leadership, supervision, coaching and development to team members.
Expert ability to manage multiple projects high in complexity and of strategic importance to the organization
Fully capable of providing managerial direction for a broad, diverse and complex business unit
Able to provide long-term strategic guidance to one or more major technical, business or support units
Able to plan and execute work that will benefit the entire organization
Exceptional relationship management, coaching and communication skills
Able to translate broad, strategic intent into tactical and operational plans
Strong ability to influence and negotiation skills

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
