Job Description

About the Organization: Beyond100K

To solve the world's most pressing problems, tomorrow’s problem-solvers must be equipped with STEM knowledge, skills, and agency. To get there, students need excellent, representative educators to guide them.

Beyond100K (formerly 100Kin10) serves as a powerful national hub and "field catalyst," mobilizing a diverse network of hundreds of leading organizations to tackle the systemic challenges underlying the national STEM teacher shortage. Through intentional collaboration, focused convenings, and research & resource-sharing, we strategically remove barriers to collaboration, helping key players across the education ecosystem align efforts and scale innovations to achieve lasting, field-wide transformation.

Our Track Record

Our unique, networked-impact approach has driven measurable, large-scale progress across the country:

  • A Decade of Impact: We successfully met our inaugural 10-year goal by preparing over 108,000 excellent STEM teachers for America’s classrooms, surpassing the audacious goal originally set by President Obama.
  • Accelerated Momentum: Since 2023 alone, our growing coalition has prepared 33,000 new STEM teachers and supported nearly 120,000 more, impacting up to 11 million students nationwide.
  • Systemic Transformation: Today, 93% of our partners report that network participation keeps them uniquely motivated to stay focused on ending the shortage. A third-party evaluation by Bellwether confirmed that Beyond100K has successfully built a more connected, focused, and prepared community of actors collectively driving impact across the STEM education field.

Our Vision for 2043

While we have recruited and prepared more educators than once thought possible, systemic cracks remain: too many teachers are leaving the profession because the current environment is unsustainable, and too many students of color are excluded from inspiring STEM opportunities.

By 2043, our moonshot goal is to completely end the STEM teacher shortage. We are centering our efforts on schools and communities—specifically Black, Latinx, and Indigenous spaces—where the shortage has been the hardest to solve. By anchoring our work in equity, representation, and belonging, we are mobilizing a movement to ensure every child can contribute their spark to a brighter future.

About the Role: Managing Director

We are seeking an exceptional operational leader with expertise in network strategy to serve as the Managing Director of Beyond100K. This is a newly created senior leadership role that will serve in critical internal and external capacities, designed to strengthen our team and accelerate our impact.

Operating across strategic, managerial, and hands-on levels, you will unlock the team's potential to consistently hit ambitious milestones, maximize our resources, and deepen our systemic impact.

While your primary focus will be bringing organizational acumen and operational excellence to our program, culture, and administration, you will be a vital co-creator of Beyond100K’s next chapter. You are passionate about our Theory of Change and network strategy and can compellingly represent Beyond100K and the vital role of “field catalysts” to key external audiences.

This position is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial, driven leader to deepen their expertise in systems change alongside a national leader in collective social impact. As a key leader of Beyond100K, you will gain full visibility into every facet of our work, making this role a powerful opportunity to both flex your executive leadership skills and gain expertise at the cutting-edge of systems transformation at the intersection of STEM, education, and collective social impact.

Expected travel is ~once a month, not inclusive of quarterly team retreats.

Your Responsibilities will Include:

Ensure that our resources are aligned dynamically to our strategy, our fiscal health is robust, and our team operates in a sustainable, high-clarity environment where people can do their best work.
  • Strategic Planning & Alignment: Lead the process for strategic planning and annual goal-setting, ensuring all workstreams are tightly aligned to our long-term vision. Internalize, model, and reinforce Beyond100K’s broader network strategy and Theory of Change across all teams.
  • Impact Evaluation: Design and oversee the measurement frameworks associated with our strategic plans to evaluate organizational progress and ensure clear impact data.
  • External Representation & Partnerships: Master Beyond100K’s model to serve as a powerful external ambassador, partnering with or standing in for the Executive Director at public forums and high-stakes events.
