If you are looking for a consulting career where strategy meets quantitative analysis, and where your work has a tangible impact across Europe, we'd love to meet you.
WHO WE ARE
Magnus Energy helps organisations navigate the energy transition. As one of Europe's leading energy consultancies, we support system operators, energy suppliers, industrial energy users, regulators, governments and investors, from defining long-term strategy through to implementation.
Our work combines strategic advisory, market analysis, quantitative modelling and programme delivery. We help our clients make informed decisions in an increasingly complex energy landscape by combining deep sector expertise with pragmatic consulting.
Our international team includes management consultants, economists, engineers, market specialists and programme managers working from five European offices. Together, we share one ambition: helping build a secure, sustainable and affordable energy system.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Managing Consultant – Energy Markets & Strategy, you will play a leading role in consulting projects addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the European energy sector.
Depending on your background, you will contribute to established work in energy strategy, European markets and complex energy programmes, while helping us expand in areas such as industrial electrification, flexibility, energy economics and commercial strategy.
You will join our Management Consultancy team and can be based in either Brussels or Naarden. The role is the same in both; the client focus differs by office:
Brussels – primarily Belgian and European clients, including European institutions and transmission system operators.
Naarden – primarily energy-system and industrial clients across the Netherlands and Europe.
You will work directly with senior client stakeholders while leading multidisciplinary project teams to develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
Your work may include:
Leading consulting projects or major workstreams, from defining the question and analytical approach through to recommendations and implementation planning.
Advising energy-sector and industrial clients on topics such as energy strategy, electricity markets, flexibility, electrification, regulation, infrastructure and investment choices – from helping a European TSO define its strategy for 2035, to supporting a network operator on connection queues and grid congestion.
Translating analysis into decisions, using market, regulatory, quantitative, techno-economic or financial evidence as appropriate to the assignment– for example, turning a techno-economic analysis into a clear investment recommendation.
Building trusted client relationships, facilitate senior stakeholder discussions and communicate complex findings through clear narratives, presentations and roadmaps.
Contributing to the growth of Magnus Energy through proposals, proposition development, thought leadership and the coaching of colleagues.
No two projects are the same. One week you may be supporting a European TSO in defining its long-term strategy; the next you could be helping an industrial client optimise its electricity procurement strategy or advising a regulator on future market design.
We are looking for an experienced consultant who combines strong problem-solving skills with a genuine interest in the European energy sector.
You bring:
Proven experience (5-10 years) in consulting with expertise in at least one area relevant to the energy transition, such as energy markets, regulation, flexibility, electrification, energy strategy or infrastructure development.
The ability to structure complex challenges, develop robust analyses and translate insights into recommendations that clients can act upon.
Experience leading large projects or major workstreams and working directly with senior stakeholders, communicating clearly and building convincing storylines.
Interest in contributing to business development by identifying opportunities, supporting proposals and helping grow long-term client relationships.
A Master's degree in a relevant discipline.
