Our Project and Program Delivery (PPD) team strategically partners with clients to improve their likelihood of success by addressing challenges in developing and delivering major infrastructure projects and programs of work. We provide integrated project management, project controls, planning and design, and contract compliance, governance and assurance advice—using data-driven tools and methodologies to increase the probability of success at every stage of the project and asset lifecycle.

PPD is embedded within KPMG’s Deal Advisory and Infrastructure [DAI] group, a national team of global infrastructure specialists. We’re seeking experienced Managers and Associate Directors to join our Canberra-based team, delivering impactful work across defence industries and federal government infrastructure projects

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading project delivery including cost, risk, planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, approvals, and communications across the full project lifecycle.
• Leading teams, investing time in building collaborative working relationships and building a constructive culture
• Developing or managing project plans and schedules using tools like Primavera, MS Project, or similar.
• The ability to identify risks and cost variations and, propose corrective or mitigation strategies.
• An understanding of or the ability to develop and maintain project cost estimates and budgets.
• Confidence in preparing and analysing cost reports and forecasts, resource planning and progress reports.
• Developing cost control policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
• Coordination skills to guide stakeholders in support of schedule planning and alignment.
• Using quantitative data to support client project teams to make informed decisions.
• Performing on-site reviews to assess the strengths of key processes and controls.
• Contract administration and commercial management processes on projects.

• Proven experience in project environments across defence infrastructure or other capital-intensive industries, ideally in client-side advisory, project management, or project controls.
• Prior consulting or advisory experience within a Project Management consultancy, Head Contractor, Construction Management, or Big 4 environment is highly regarded.
• Proven experience taking a lead on projects and providing guidance to senior level management within the business.
• Strong capability in managing key project elements including cost, risk, planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, approvals, and communications across the full project lifecycle.
• Strong leadership qualities, including providing guidance and direction to members working on the project to help maximize the results.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high level of stakeholder engagement and is able to hold the role of an advisor within the project.
• Ability to understand client challenges and contribute to effective project delivery solutions.
• Experience Integrating information from a variety of different sources, considering the broader impact of issues and how it will affect the project.
• Ability to apply innovative and creative techniques in solving complex problems on projects and able to suggest and implement process and performance improvements that continue to add value to the project
• Structured and analytical approach to problem-solving.
• highly developed negotiation skills, takes the lead in negotiations with the project.
• Proficiency in industry-standard estimating, planning, and project management software systems.
• Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Membership or certification with professional bodies such as AIPM or Engineers Australia is encouraged.
• Defence clearance (NV1) or eligibility to obtain one.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical) is preferred
