
[What the role is]
The Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA) was passed by Parliament in January 2025 and will be implemented over 3 tranches from 2025 to 2027. This requires the making of subsidiary legislation, and you will be part of a team responsible for preparing, planning and enabling the implementation of the FSSA.
This position requires the job applicant to be proactive, highly organised and detail-oriented as he/she supports a high-priority, multi-year workstream involving multiple divisions and stakeholders. The role is essential to ensuring the work stays on track, meetings are well-coordinated, and progress is clearly documented and communicated.
[What you will be working on]
Member of the legislative development and management team responsible for leading the enactment of legislation to ensure that SFA has the legal power to operationalise food safety interventions including standards in food regulations. The key workstream would be the FSSA. This would include:
Duties also include studying the existing requirements and industry practice, formulating new requirements, engaging stakeholders (both internal and external), and working with other divisions and agencies to ensure smooth implementation.
