About this job:
Leads district efforts to support a citywide public health approach to the development, implementation, evaluation and management of youth violence prevention and intervention programming. Works to identify and close gaps between the needs of families impacted by violence and current district policy and system responses. Manages the day-to-day communication and activities between internal departments, community-based organizations, city and state agencies and the Youth Resilience Liaison team. In partnership with the city, applies strategies to significantly reduce gun and gang violence in Denver through data-driven, collaborative violence prevention and reduction programing.

What You'll Do:
- Ensures extensive coordination across multiple internal central office teams; district shools; multiple external parties, including the Denver Police Department, Public Safety Youth Programs and a wide array of community-based organizations; manages “down” towards those actively engaged with students.
- Oversees a team of liaisons who work directly in our schools and provides lateral coordination with other groups to ensure that relevant resources are connected with youth and their families, including but not limited to those addressing food and housing insecurity, gang involvement, physical and mental health needs, family support services, justice system involvement and other related needs.
- Helps team establish and cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders for their assigned set of schools within a region; facilitates communication to ensure the coordination of resources on behalf of at-risk youth, matching youth needs with available assets and handling the logistical coordination to make those assets available.
- Coordinates the research of intervention strategies and resources across regions, reviewing data analysis and providing coaching on what services have been offered to students and strategies to be used during advising sessions, supporting efforts to work with school-leadership teams to identify systemic shifts and generally support the advisory process of supporting students.
- Designs and Provides Training to school-level staff; works with other internal stakeholders to ensure that appropriate questions are asked when incidents occur, in support of both the deployment of youth resiliency resources and the investigative process. Identifies existing community-facing and connects them with youth resiliency resources appropriate for their region.
- Leverages existing communication channels and forums to raise awareness of youth resiliency resources and opportunities to integrate them into schools.
- Coordinates Responses to City Notifications, including Handle with Care notifications, city crisis response notifications and other notifications related to youth violence prevention and intervention; works with city to identify different types of notifications and designs process flows for what happens in the District when each notification is received; manages those processes to ensure that they are followed and identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Participates in Crisis Response Protocols as Needed; stays connected to front-line operations so that effective preventative measures can be continuously identified and improved; coordinates youth violence intervention and prevention efforts.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Two years of professional level experience developing, implementing and administering programs.
- Two years of management experience.
- Minimum of three years experience in case management or working with at-risk Youth.
- Experience with emergency crisis response.
- Must have reliable transportation, a current and valid State of Colorado driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage and an acceptable driving record for the past three years.
- Firearm certification, First Aid and CPR AED Training and/or Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Certification (CPTED) preferred.
- Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
- Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
