The Remote Vendor Manager is responsible for overseeing the performance, governance, and strategic management of third-party vendors supporting the Medicare Advantage health plan. This role serves as the primary relationship manager for key vendors and delegated entities, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, performance expectations, and organizational objectives.

The Vendor Manager partners closely with Operations, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Technology, Finance, Legal, Clinical, Provider Operations, and business leaders to drive vendor accountability, optimize vendor performance, mitigate risk, and support strategic initiatives. This position plays a critical role in ensuring vendors contribute to operational excellence, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency, and superior member and provider experiences.

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned vendors and strategic business partners.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendor leadership and operational teams.
  • Facilitate regular business reviews and governance meetings with vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Resolve operational issues, service concerns, and escalations in a timely manner.

Vendor Performance Management

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs), and contractual commitments.
  • Analyze vendor performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reviews.
  • Develop corrective action plans when performance expectations are not met.
  • Ensure vendors consistently meet quality, operational, and customer service standards.

Contract & Financial Management

  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Procurement, and business stakeholders throughout the vendor lifecycle.
  • Support contract negotiations, renewals, amendments, and terminations.
  • Monitor contract compliance and ensure vendors meet contractual obligations.
  • Review invoices and financial performance to ensure cost effectiveness and budget compliance.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiencies, and value creation.

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure vendors operate in compliance with CMS, Medicare Advantage, HIPAA, state regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Coordinate vendor compliance reviews, audits, and operational assessments.
  • Monitor delegated and non-delegated vendor compliance activities.
  • Track remediation plans and corrective actions resulting from audits or compliance reviews.
  • Partner with Compliance and Regulatory Affairs teams to address regulatory requirements impacting vendors.

Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate vendor-related operational, financial, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Support vendor risk assessment and oversight programs.
  • Monitor business continuity, disaster recovery, privacy, and security requirements.
  • Escalate significant vendor risks and issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Ensure vendors maintain required certifications, controls, and documentation.

Implementation & Change Management

  • Support implementation of new vendors and vendor-delivered services.
  • Coordinate vendor participation in strategic initiatives and operational projects.
  • Manage vendor-related operational changes and business process improvements.
  • Ensure vendors successfully implement regulatory, operational, and technology updates.
  • Facilitate readiness activities for new products, markets, and programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Ensure alignment between business needs and vendor service delivery.
  • Coordinate issue resolution and performance improvement efforts across stakeholders.

Reporting & Governance

  • Develop executive dashboards and vendor performance reports.
  • Present vendor performance, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain vendor management documentation and governance records.
  • Support internal committees and oversight forums related to vendor performance and risk management.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve vendor management practices.

Job Requirements:

Experience

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in vendor management, healthcare operations, account management, procurement, business operations, or related fields.
  • Highly Preferred- Medicare Advantage vendor management experience.

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Project Management, or related field.

Specialized Skills:

Required:

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and performance metrics.
  • Strong contract management and negotiation support experience.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: $98,550.00 - $147,825.00

Pay range may be based on a number of factors including market location, education, responsibilities, experience, etc.
