About You:

As the Underwriting Manager you will lead the operational performance of our Lending function. Your mission? Optimize processes, leverage technology, and ensure every decision meets FCA Consumer Duty standards. You’ll manage a talented team, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and deliver operational excellence that supports our ambitious goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Operational Excellence: Manage and develop the Lending team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and high performance.
  • Drive Efficiency: Review and improve workflows and processes to reduce friction and enhance productivity.
  • Embed Automation: Implement and optimize technology solutions that reduce manual decisioning and intervention points.
  • Champion Compliance: Ensure lending processes meet FCA Consumer Duty principles—fair value, transparency, and ethical decision-making.
  • Inspire Change: Engage teams, empower the Junior Lending Manager, and foster a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Product, Tech, and Compliance to deliver scalable, automated solutions.
  • Monitor Performance: Define KPIs for automation success, efficiency, and team utilization; report on progress and risks.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in lending operations or customer experience leadership within a regulated environment. 
  • Strong understanding of FCA Consumer Duty and risk management principles. 
  • A track record of process transformation and technology adoption.
  • Exceptional leadership skills—able to inspire, coach, and drive cultural change.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
