Job Description


The Manager, Treasury Services is responsible the successful management of Treasury Services Payments (TSP) and leading the team to manage the delivery of payments projects; including but not limited to dividend, distribution and interest payments and the distribution of annual and period exit statements.

This role will support and guide the Bank Reconciliation and Unclaimed Monies functions.

As a Manager, Treasury Services you will be responsible for the managing the operational delivery, financial management of projects, budget preparation, monthly revenue accruals and income forecasts, risk assessment management and reporting, continuous improvement, performance management and training of staff in Treasury Services Payments.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities

Strategic Focus
  • Promote and contribute to the development and of a culture across MUFG Pension & Market Services that supports MUFG’s strategic goals and core values
  • Develop the capability of the TSP team members locally and support the development of the TSP team in Mumbai
  • Support the Business Development and Client Relationship teams with the acquisition of new clients through IPO or registry transitions
  • Lead operational efficiencies including technological and procedural process improvement initiatives including enhancements, upgrades, testing, documentation and change control
  • Identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives

Operational Management
  • Oversee the project allocations and management of workloads and resources for the team to ensure payments are made on time, staff overtime is managed and their wellbeing monitored
  • Engage the required resources, internal or vendor, to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of projects
  • Promote a cohesive working relationship with the Mumbai team and provide support; including review of processes and provide any training and guidance required to assist them to continually improve the delivery of their services and develop their capability
  • Manage day-to-day payment and related operational issues and queries from clients, vendors and other MUFG Pension & Market Services stakeholders and teams
  • Lead engagement with all stakeholders and operate as the primary point of contact for process specialists, SME’s and Operational heads
  • Build the profile of the team in the organisation and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ensure procedural document documentation and checklists are reviewed at least annually and updated as required
  • Manage incidents and investigations in accordance with the Incident Management Policy
  • Attend and engage in management meetings, including MUFG Pension & Market Services wide meetings
  • Facilitate the delivery of regular planning meetings with the team leaders and team

People Leadership
  • Responsible for the management of staff including but not limited to performance reviews, training and development, and resource management to ensure appropriate coverage for ongoing delivery
  • Promote collaboration and develop the cohesion of the team members across Australia and Mumbai
  • Actively promote through demonstrated behaviours and lead the team to achieve functional hybrid working model
  • Provide leadership and manage staff including developing, coaching and mentoring to build commitment to achieving MUFG’s objectives
  • Oversee project allocation with focus on cross training, multi skilling team to reduce key person dependencies
  • Encourage employee wellbeing, maintain staff morale and monitor overtime during peak periods
  • Prepare and maintain statistical reports including annual leave and overtime
  • Regular feedback to staff on performance and complete the half year and annual performance reviews
  • Work on individual development of all staff to provide career progression

Governance & Risk
  • General administration and other duties including attendance at operations/staff meetings and participation in corporate projects
  • Review and approve invoices; preparation of monthly revenue accruals and income forecasts
  • Ability to prepare and maintain project budgets, analyse financial information and prepare concise management reports
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset with the ongoing review of Treasury Services Payments processes and procedures and update related documentation as required
  • For each project ensure that all legislative, client, organisational and project requirements are met in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with all procedures, checklists and risk control framework.
  • Conduct quarterly Control Self-Assessment compliance reporting, six monthly GS0007 risk register reviews
  • Complete and meet all other compliance, audit, statutory and risk management processes and their respective deadlines, as established throughout the year
  • Record and manage completion of incident reports
  • Ensure mandatory compliance training is completed by all team members by required due dates.

Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Demonstrated experience in the financial services industry and a high level of understanding of financial markets, including Corporations Law, SCH Business Rules and ASX Listing Rules
  • Tertiary qualification in business, banking or financial markets
  • Demonstrated experience in management roles leading the successful delivery of projects, on time and within budget
  • Experience and high proficiency in people management
  • Ability to approach issues and problems in an analytical and solutions focused manner
  • Work in a transparent and accountable manner
  • Highly professional and customer focused with the ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with internal and external parties and the ability to effectively represent MUFG Pension & Market Services at all times
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative, motivation and organisational skills, with the ability to determine work priorities and flexibility to work long hours to meet deadlines as required
  • Proficiency with project management tools e.g. Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel
